Persona 5: The Phantom Xhas confirmed that one of its most popular characters, Joker, is receiving a new skin later this year. AlthoughPersona 5: The Phantom X’s Western release was in June, the RPG is already wrapping up Version 1.0 and launching its first major update on July 10.
As a spin-off to thePersona 5series, Atlus' latest gacha game has become increasingly popular among players.Persona 5: The Phantom Xquickly reached 1.5 million downloadsand topped both Steam and the App Store’s rankings. The RPG recently held a special livestream focused on its upcoming Version 1.1, which will bring new story content, events, and more. However, the developers also gave players a first look at new character cosmetics planned for later updates, starting with the fan-favorite Ren Amamiya, also known as Joker.
Persona 5: The Phantom Xunveiled a new Butler skin for Joker, coming to the game in Version 1.2. As seen in the official illustration, this new outfit replaces Joker’s mask with a monocle and swaps his black vest for a black-and-white striped one. It also changes his red gloves to white. Earlier in June,Persona 5: The Phantom Xshared its 2025 update scheduleand revealed that Version 1.2 is planned to launch in July, so it won’t be long before fans can obtain Joker’s skin. On the other hand, the developers haven’t confirmed if the skin will be available through direct purchase. As reported by Twitter user ScrambledFaz, when Joker’s skin was released for the Chinese version ofPersona 5: The Phantom Xin its 4.0 update, it was obtainable through a gacha system that cost 365 Meta Jewels per pull. This is over double the cost of regular pulls on character banners. Whether the global version will take the same approach remains to be seen.
Persona 5: The Phantom X Confirms New Joker Skin for Version 1.2
Aside from Joker,Persona 5: The Phantom Xalso features other popular characters from the originalPersona 5saga, including Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, and Morgana, all of whom are permanently available through the Standard banner. Other Phantom Thieves, like Queen, Crow, and Fox, are expected to debut in future updates, as they are playable in the Chinese version. Joker’s limited banner is currently available and will run until July 23. It will overlap withPersona 5: The Phantom X’s upcoming 5-Star unitsdebuting in Version 1.1, Bui and Marian.
As confirmed by the developers,Persona 5: The Phantom Xis changing its content release roadmapin the West to help players catch up with the Chinese version. This means that fans can expect new Phantom Idols, main story chapters, and special events to launch at a faster pace with every upcomingPersona 5: The Phantom Xupdate.
