Persona 5: The Phantom Xhas lots of interesting Phantom Idols to pick from (besides the current crew of Phantom Thieves), and Morgana from Persona 5 became available with the release version of the game. He is a useful Medic that also packs a punch, and can cause debuff on enemies thanks to his Wind Elemental skills. It is also the strongest healer at the moment, since his skill economy greatly empowers the party’s recovery during prolonged encounters.
Having Morgana (Mona & Zoro) is critical for some boss encounters, like the boss of Miyazawa’s Palace (Shadow Miyazawa and Aegipan), so players in need of a strong build focused on what this character does best should look no further. This guide has all the information on Mona’s skills, best equipment, ideal Revelation Cards, and most importantly: The best team composition to accompany him and his Persona in battle. First, an overview of all Mona’s abilities, passives, and skills.
All Mona Skills & Passives in Persona 5: The Phantom X
Mona is a support/attacker hybrid that becomes empowered by varying his attack patterns, by triggering Chivalry, his unique buff stack. Chivalry can trigger a full party healing effect each time other Party Members activate a Highlight or Follow Up. This healing costs no SP, making Morgana the most powerful Healer in the Roster at the moment. His gameplay is not overcomplicated: He hasthree different skills, two of themattacks, oneWind Elemental-based, and the otherPhysical. Missile Whirlwind causesWindswept, a powerful debuff we will discuss further later, and Gentle Fist isa ‘chance’ attack, that can be either extremely powerful, or do nothing. Then, Morgana’s main andmost useful skill,Healing Breeze, is a Party Heal that does cost SP,which also cures Elemental Ailments.
Here’s an overview of each of Mona’s skills and passives, along with a list detailing all his Awareness Passives at each of its Ranks:
Windswept causes enemies to lose 12 % of their base defense for 2 turns, giving players a chance to deal more damage and finish the battle faster. Since Morgana can cause Windswept using Missile Whirlwind, players can not only heal the party with their abilities, but also debuff enemies.
Passive
Rank 0
Morgana’s Favor: When using a different skill at each round, Mona gains 1 Chivalry stack. Stacks up to 3 times. When an ally with less than 70% HP remaining attacks with a skill or Highlight, activates Resonance, spending 1 Chivalry stack to heal all allies by 10% of Morgana’s Attack +150/225/300 (effects increase at Thief level 1/50/70).
Rank 1
Marvelous Pride: Chivalry now restores HP of allies with less than 50% HP remaining by 30% of Morgana’s Attack.
Rank 2
Black Cat Charm: When using Healing Breeze, it increases HP recovery for the main target by 33% (Players can select a main character despite the skill being multi-targeted).
Rank 3
Grooming: Increases the skill levels of Healing Breeze and Thief Tactics by 3.
Rank 4
Aftercare: When KO’d allies are revived by Mona’s Highlight, restore bonus HP equal to 60% of Morgana’s Attack + 800.
Rank 5
Airplane Ears Mode: Increases the skill levels of Missile Whirlwind and Gentle Fist by 3.
Rank 6
Look, Treasure!: Removes Gentle Fist’s decreased accuracy effect. Increase the target’s damage taken by 15% for 2 turns.
There are four ways to gain Chivalry stacks. The first is to use a different skill each turn, which can be calledSkill Rotation. The other is to land a critical hit with Gentle Fist. Then there are two other skills (Healing Breeze and Missile Whirlwind) that have a chance to grant a stack of Chivalry. Another important thing is that after Morgana reaches Awareness Rank 6, Gentle Fist will no longer fail, and hitting an enemy with it will increase the damage taken by said foe by 15%.
Players should prioritize leveling Healing Breeze, then Missile Whirlwind, Thief Tactics, and finally Gentle Fist.
Best Mona Weapons in Persona 5: The Phantom X
Golden Legacyis the most coveted weapon for Morgana inPersona 5: The Phantom X,since it’s a5-Star pull from the Weapon Gachaand greatly boosts Mona and Zorro’s stats. It also grants increased critical rate (18.0%), and if a foe is critically hit with a skill, Mona deals 10.0% of max HP as bonus damage (up to 100.0% of Attack). When using a healing skill, Mona will restore 9.0% of the target’s max HP. If a skill misses, Mona gains a charge of Chivalry. Many players might be thinking this weapon is absolutely worth it, but it has two downsides: The first is the low drop rates in the Gacha game, and the other one is one of its perks, particularly the one that grants Chivalry when Mona misses an attack. The only attack that misses all the time is Gentle Fist, but when Morgana reaches Awareness Rank 6, this becomes useless.
Headhunter Laddleis a special weapon that can be obtained by participating in the Crossroads of Fate special event, and it’s the ideal weapon for a Healer Morgana. Increases Mona’s critical rate by 5.9%. When attacking with a skill, it restores HP equal to 6.3% of his Attack to the ally with the lowest HP. There’s also a 2.0% chance to inflict Forget on the target foe for 1 turn. Forget causes enemies to be unable to use skills. It’s a great debuff, and added to Windswept takes Morgana’s utility to a whole new level.
Best Mona Revelations Cards
Meditation & Loveis the most effective Revelation Set for Morgana in P5X. Its set effect increases healing by 9%, and healing to allies below 50% by 23%. Also, after a critical hit, it increases the user’s healing effects by 28% for 2 turns. It’s a powerful boost to Morgana’s already broken healing abilities, and if players choose to go full support (which is the recommended build), they will be able to heal more. That increase of HP gain per heal when Party members are low on health is life-saving. Players cannot go wrong with this choice.
Now, for a more versatile build, players should tryPower & Growth.Power Revelationcards are not so hard to get, and they increase Attack by 12%, and an additional 10% every 6 turns of combat. The Growth Set effect also increases the amount of attack buffs a Phantom Thief can receive by 5 (the maximum is 3 or 30%), so that means a potential +80% Attack for Morgana, and more Attack means more healing. But this also increases the damage Mona causes with his attack skills, and that is also a good thing. More so if players are running a Mona/Fleuret duo Party Comp, which takes advantage of the synergy between the two Wind Elemental Phantom Thieves.
Best Mona Team Composition in P5X
The ideal team composition for Morgana (Mona) inPersona 5: The Phantom Xincludes the following characters: Wonder with Healing Support Buff personas (Unicorn, Principality, etc.) Joker, Skull, and Puppet. Wonder and Puppet can grant an enormous boost to Mona’s healing skills by granting enhanced healing and shield to the rest of the party members, while the main damage dealers will be Joker and Skull. Skull plays really well by reducing and increasing his health to activate his Persona Buff (Wounded Glory), then rotating with Joker for some powerful damage coverage. Curse damage is really powerful, but Joker is squishy, and that’s where Mona comes into play, since Joker’s multiple free actions can guarantee Mona’s Chivalry charges activating all the time, healing the party at no cost.
Now, for a good variation, the Mona/Fleuret team is also a great composition, which focuses on the ability of Mona to cause Windswept, and Fleuret’s passives that take advantage of enemies affected by this buff to land lots of attacks with high critical chances. Fleuret is a skillful skirmisher who can land several blows in quick succession, so having Mona to support him, as well as Riddle or Sepia is the optimal team composition. Joker also does great pairing with these two, especially if they are accompanied by a full support Wonder, equipped with Pale Rider (to increase Joker’s Curse damage on foes), Sarasvati, and Titania.
