PEAKis all about trying to reach the top of various biomes, and to do that, you’ll have to make use of all the various items you’ll encounter on your trek. Stuff like fruit, mushrooms, ropes, climbing tools, energy drinks, lanterns, and even magical healing trumpets can be brought with you as you climb to the highest point, but you only have space for three items on your person.

However, byusing the backpackinPEAK, you can store a few extra items to make your journey just a little bit easier.Carrying the additional items will add some weight, limiting your stamina and health, but it could come in handy, especially when playingPEAKby yourself (which is how I’m playing!)

A video game backpack sounds like it should be super simple to use, right? Well, stuffing things in (and removing items) is not that straightforward inPEAK. Here’s how to actually use the backpack.

How to Use the Backpack in PEAK

You Have to Put it Down First

I playedPEAKon Steam using anXbox controller, so I will list the controls for that and for those playing with a keyboard and mouse.

The first thing you need to know about the backpack is that it will typically show up right in front of you when you crash-land on the island on day one. Items will be randomized inPEAK, so sometimes you never know what you’re going to find. You can also find one at the base camps at the top of each biome.

The second thing you need to know is that if youwant to actually put somethinginsidethe backpack, you have to first place it on the ground and interact with it. The same goes for removing anything from the bag. This makes it very difficult to use crucial items from the pack while you’re physically in the middle of a climbing session.

So, Should You Carry the Backpack in PEAK?

Go for it!

If you think you’re confident at climbing with a little less stamina, then you should most definitely carry the backpack inPEAK. If you can stash some useful items in there, like Antidotes for poison, medkits, bandages, ropes, and things like that, it can come in handy later on. There have been so many times when I accidentally touched one of those purple sea urchin spiky things that poison you, and luckily, I had something in my pack to help me survive a bit longer.

If you’re finding your stamina bar to have taken up too much weight, it could be useful to drop some unhelpful items, but it all depends on your playstyle at the end of the day,
