Kiriko has received another round of cosmetics in the latest season ofOverwatch 2, and some fans have noticed that her new Sophomore Kamori skin’s Healing Ofuda appearance hides a neat detail that references her familiar childhood friends. Season 17 ofOverwatch 2brings plenty to the table, particularly when it comes to cosmetics, as it’s the first season to introduce two new mythic-tier items to the game upon its release.
D.Va is thelatest hero on theOverwatch 2roster to receive a mythic skinof her own, but Reaper has also gotten a new mythic weapon skin this season as well. As always, fans can progress through the current season’s battle pass to earn up to 80 Mythic Prisms, which can be redeemed for any mythic item available in the game’s shop area. On that note, Season 17’s season pass also introduces a few new legendary skins with an 8-bit theme for Sombra, Reinhardt, and Genji, an amusing new highlight intro for Sombra, and more, although players will need to purchase the premium season pass to unlock most of these goodies.
Overwatch 2Season 17also adds several skins that reimagine certain heroes as school students and teachers, though some of these cosmetics are sold exclusively in the game’s shop. One of these skins is the Sophomore Kamori skin for Kiriko, which comes packaged in a bundle complete with a matching emote, spray, name card, and player icon. The skin itself is pretty stylish, and when equipped, players will notice that Kiriko’s Healing Ofuda is covered with all sorts of scribbled school notes and cute doodles. As was recently pointed out by a fan known online as FishingPitiful2865, these even include doodles of Hanzo and Genji, characters that have been family friends to Kiriko since her youth.
This Cool Detail Adds a Lot of Character to Kiriko’s Latest Skin
The latest season ofOverwatch 2may not introduce a new hero, but it does provide plenty of new cosmetics for existing ones. More skins will be added to the shop as Season 17 progresses, including a new one for Venture, a hero who has received notoriously few skins of their own since being added to the game last year. As always,Overwatch 2has rolled out some balance tweaksto some of its heroes with the latest seasonal patch as well.
Beyond cosmetics, though,Overwatch 2Season 17 has spiced up a few existing mapsfor Flashpoint, in the interest of improving the gameplay experience throughout that particular game mode. It also brings a whole new location to the game called Aatlis, adds Esperança and Samoa to Stadium mode’s map pool, and introduces the ability for players to vote for a map before a game starts in Quick Play and Competitive playlists.
