Monkey D. Luffy’s journey has been full of challenges. Ever since he jumped out of the barrel, Luffy has been taking down the most nefarious individuals inOne Piece. Of course, his motivation isn’t always the same, but the end product almost always remains the same.
In the last few arcs, Luffy’s opponents have become much more dangerous. In Whole Cake Island, he tussledwith Big Mom, and in Wano, he locked horns with Kaido. After dealing with two of the strongest pirates, the question is which Yonko will Luffy face next in One Piece?
Luffy Will Fight Blackbeard Next
Blackbeard Might Be Luffy’s Final Opponent
Out of the current Yonko,Luffy’s biggest rival is Blackbeard. The latter has caused lots of problems for Luffy in the past. For starters, Blackbeard was the one responsible for capturing Ace and delivering him into the hands of the World Government, which resulted in the young pirate’s death. When Luffy learned about Blackbeard’s actions, he was naturally bewildered. The Supernova even tried attacking Blackbeard inside Impel Down, but it hardly had any impact on the then-Shichibukai.
In the Egghead Island arc, it was revealed that Blackbeard’s crew members captured Monkey D. Garp when he tried to free Koby from their clutches. While Garp was successful in rescuing Koby, he couldn’t get away from the island. The Marine was captured by the Blackbeard Pirates and imprisoned on the island.
Luffy is unaware that his grandfather is in danger, but it is inevitable that he will find out at some point. When Luffy learns about the situation, he will certainly rush to his grandfather’s aid. He wouldn’t want to lose another family member because of Blackbeard. So, it is likely that Luffywill head to Hachinosu to free Garpfrom the clutches of the Blackbeard Pirates. The only way that Luffy will not go to Hachinosu is if someone else rescues Garp.
Will Luffy Fight Shanks In One Piece?
Shanks And Luffy Are Chasing The One Piece
Luffy respects Shanks a lot, and it was due to the latter’s sacrifice that the young pirate survived for so long. When Luffy was taken away by Higuma, Shanks gave up his left arm to rescue the kid. If Shanks hadn’t done so, Luffy would have most certainly died. Luffy is also protective of Shanks. He doesn’t tolerate anyone badmouthing the red-haired pirate.
We’re pirates! We don’t play by the rules! —Shanks
Despite having a great deal of mutual respect, Shanks and Luffy have a big reason to fight each other—the One Piece. From the first chapter, Luffy has been clear that he wants to become the Pirate King and claim the One Piece. He has fought countless people who dared stand in his way. Not so long ago, Shanks expressed his desire to find and obtain the One Piece. This means that both Luffy andShanks are looking for the same thing. Since the two are stubborn, it’s unlikely that either will give up on the treasure. Therefore, Luffy might end up fighting Shanks in the upcoming arcs.
Shanks Is Actively Looking For Blackbeard
Shanks Will Blackbeard At Some Point
Shanks has been keeping an eye on Blackbeardfor many years, as he knows what the latter is capable of. In the past, Shanks was attacked by Blackbeard, and he ended up with a scar over his left eye. Shanks has resented Blackbeard for ages, and even now, he’s targeting his fellow Yonko. So, it is possible that Shanks will fight Blackbeard in the near future.
While Shanks is certainly the stronger out of the two, Blackbeard is known for cheating his way out of problems. So, the fight could go either way. If Oda is planning to use Blackbeard as Luffy’s final opponent, then Shanks will lose. Otherwise, Luffy will just be fighting a Yonko who is not even in contention to claim the One Piece. Of course, it’s all speculation, and fans will learn the truth in the future arcs.
