All pirate crews inOne Piecetend to follow a very similar structure, regardless of who the members are. Most obviously, there is the captain, who tends to be the most powerful member and is directly followed by two lead commanders who are just below them in terms of overall strength and authority. Of course, there are notable exceptions to this rule, with a few crews that seem to move out of this structure in one way or another.
One of these are the Giant Warrior Pirates, who have historically been led by two co-captains. The very first version of this infamous crew was led by Jorul and Jarul, notable Giants who eventually retired andbecame the elders of Elbaf. They were then followed by Dorry and Brogy, who led the crew to global infamy, garnering them a reputation as the most dangerous pirate crew inOne Piecefrom a century ago.
Story Arc
Little Garden
In a time long before even the legendary Gol D. Roger was born, the seas were ruled by one pirate crew above all others. These were the Giant Warrior Pirates, and, of course, they were unchallenged because powerhouses like Roger, Xebec, and Newgate would be born much later. Due to the strength and fearsome reputation of the Giants of Elbaf, the Giant Warrior Pirates became the greatest pirate crew of their time.
However, it was revealed that the Giants from a century ago weren’t the first to call themselves the Giant Warrior Pirates, as Jarul and Jorul were the captains of this crew far before the others took the mantle. Eventually, the co-captaincy fell to the legendary Dorry and Brogy, who took the Giant Warrior Pirates to far greater heights of infamy as they have been said to terrorize the world around 100 years before the start of the current story. This shows why this crew was the most feared in its prime.
Even among the Giants of Elbaf, the only ones who can catch such fearsome prey… are our chiefs!
Dorry and Brogy have always been the best of friends, leading the Giant Warrior Pirates to pillage and raid across the world to a great deal of success. However, they once had a minor disagreement about something that they now consider to be trivial, leading to the two of them falling out and disbanding the legendary crew. Due to being Giants of Elbaf, who have strict codes of honor, Dorry and Brogy have spent the last century on the island of Little Garden, fighting each other every single day to a stalemate.
This shows that both of these legends are evenly matched, though they have both forgotten the reason they even fight in the first place. However, they continue this tradition due to their friendship, saying that the eventual victor will be the one who got the favor of the God of Elbaf, who is said to be the God of War. However, neither of them has ever gotten the better of the other in 100 years.
This all changed in the Little Garden arc ofOne Piece. Here, the Straw Hats eventually made their way to this mysterious island where they befriended Dorry and Brogy, which shows that, despite being the captains of a feared pirate crew, they are good-natured men who helped the Straw Hats a lot.Eventually, Baroque Works also cameto the island and caused problems, leading to the Straw Hats defeating them and saving the Giants, who then felt indebted to Luffy and his crew.
Though they elected to stay back on Little Garden to continue their century-long tradition until a victor was rightfully crowned, they became lifelong allies to the Straw Hats, even helping them get off the island for good. Eventually, in the Egghead arc, they, along with their spiritual successors, the New Giant Warrior Pirates, came to rescue the Straw Hats and escorted them to Elbaf.
The Future Of Dorry, Brogy, And The Giant Warrior Pirates
A Precarious Situation On Elbaf
The Elbaf arc has, since its beginning, been going pretty badly for the heroes. With the introduction of the Gods' Knights and Imu to the island, things have been looking pretty grim, especially considering how the latter managed to usetheir insane Devil Fruit powerto make Dorry, Brogy, and a bunch of other Elbaf Giants into evil and demonic versions of themselves.
Right now, the only hope are the Monster Trio, Loki, and the New Giant Warrior Pirates, who have all been in the Underworld while this entire fiasco has been going on. Once this arc concludes, Dorry and Brogy will likely end up being some of Luffy’s most important allies once the Final War eventually begins. Due to their statues as Elbaf’s greatest warriors, they will lead their people alongside Loki and Hajrudin.
