TheOne Pieceseries iscurrently in the Elbaf arc, and fans know very well that this arc is only just getting started. Even though it’s been ongoing for over half a year now, barely any progress has been made in this arc, and it’ll definitely last for over a year or two. Elbaf has much to explore still and fans know that Oda will get to it in time.
This is especially because of Elbaf’s geography, much of which still remains unexplored. Curiously enough, Oda has now revealed quite a bit of exciting information about the Warland Elbaf, thanks to the release ofOne PieceVolume 112 SBS, which dropped recently, including what inspired him to draw it the way he did.
Elbaf Was Introduced Before The Timeskip
The Straw Hats might have visited Elbaf recently in the manga, but that doesn’t mean this land is new to them. Elbaf is one of the earliest introduced countries in One Piece. When the Straw Hats went to the Grand Line, they headed to Whiskey Peak first, and what followed was Little Garden, which is where two Giants were introduced,named Dorry and Brogy. Fans were then told that Giants, at least a lot of them, are from the land of Elbaf. Dorry and Brogy were shown to be captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, and it was said that they had been fighting on Little Garden for 100 years over who’s stronger.

Elbaf was set up as a country for the Straw Hats to visit back in the Arabasta Saga. In the Final Saga, the Straw Hats have now finally visited this land.
Oda Reveals His Inspiration For The Land Of Elbaf
Elbaf Was Inspired By Scandinavia
In One Piece Volume 112 SBS,Oda talked extensively about Elbaf, including what inspired him to draw it the way he did. It isn’t a surprise to the fans that Elbaf is inspired by the Viking era and Norse mythology, but Oda has now given them an extensive answer. Here’s what Oda had to say:
Question: I really love the atmosphere of the village of Elbaph! Is there a country or town where it was modeled after?
Answer: I’m really glad to hear that. The design of Elbaph took quite a long time. Thank you very much.
As for the model, of course, I based it primarily on buildings from the Viking era in Northern Europe (Scandinavia). From there, I imagined the culture and geography. It’s actually the same village that was in Volume 86, but I drew it from an angle that it wouldn’t be revealed that it was on top of a giant tree.
Time Is Perceived Differently In Elbaf
Elbaf is based on Norse mythology and Scandinavia, but that isn’t all that’s interesting about it. As has been heavily hinted in the manga, Elbaf also seems to dull the sense of time, making one think that it is flowing three times slower than it actually is. One Piece might get a short timeskip because of that.
One Piece Chapter 1154 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on July 13. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1154 is Jul 19, 2025.
