One Pieceis currently in the Elbaf arc, and based on the way that Oda has set it up so far, it appears that this is the arc where a significant portion of the crew will be aiming to get stronger and reach higher heights. Of course, that also includes their best swordsman and the No. 2, Zoro.
This is especially true because Oda recently confirmed thatZoro is actually far weaker than certain fans assumedhim to be. He is a bad user of Haki and needs to train his skills a lot to reach higher heights.
Zoro Was Believed By Many To Be Yonko Level
The Wano Country Arc was significant for a number of fighters in the Straw Hat Pirates, and given that Zoro has always been one of the main ones, it was big for him as well.Zoro ended up fighting against the likes of Kaidoon the rooftop, and he certainly did impress in instances, but the gulf between the two was clear. Later, Zoro learned to tame Enma, and this led some fans to fool themselves into thinking that Zoro was as strong as the Yonko of theOne Pieceworld and comparable to Luffy and Kaido. As always, it didn’t take Oda long before he shattered that false argument.
That means I’ll be that much stronger once I master it, right? — Zoro
Gaban Confirms Zoro Is Nowhere Close To Yonko Level
In the Elbaf arc ofOne Piece, Oda confirmed two things through Gaban. The first is that Zoro is actually a bad user of Haki, given that he doesn’t even know half the power that he possesses, and only by knowing and controlling your Haki can it be used to its best. The second is that Zoro is nowhere near the Yonko of the One Piece world, and he needs to train his Haki further.
Now is the time for Zoro to understand his Supreme King Haki for the first time and try to gain conscious control over it. Once he does that, he’ll be far stronger than before.
How do you expect to support your Captain like that? — Gaban
Zoro Needs To Master Haki To Reach Higher Levels
In order to reachthe level of the Admirals and the Yonko, Zoro will need to train his Haki further, which means that he will, eventually, also be able to control Enma better. Right now, Enma is the only reason Zoro is able to bring out his Conqueror’s Haki. Without it, Zoro would just be throwing around Haki randomly, as Luffy confirmed when he said it’s been leaking at times lately.
But, Elbaf will give Zoro the opportunity to master his Haki, and that means he will learn how to use Supreme King Haki properly, and bring it out when he wants to. As such, Zoro should be able to fight the likes of the Admirals and Yonko at the end of Elbaf. He still wouldn’t be Yonko level, but he would, at the very least, be at the base level where he can fight them for an extended period of time.
