Summary
Ever since the start of the Elbaf arc, it’s been very clear that the Final Saga ofOne Pieceis officially underway. Although fans had long been theorizing this to be the case, their speculation was ultimately proven due to the appearance of the Gods' Knights and Imu themselves on the island, which just goes to show that the stakes are greater now than ever before and that the world is headed towards the biggest war in history.
In the middle of all of this are Luffy and the Straw Hats as the most important pirate crew of the current era who are destined to usher in a new dawn for the world. However, going forward, it’s been madevery clear that Conqueror’s Hakiis almost an essential tool needed forOne Piece’sFinal War, which is quite worrying since Zoro and Sanji are Luffy’s most important allies, but they still haven’t mastered it yet.
The Greatest Power In The World
First Appearance
One Piece, Chapter 1, “Romance Dawn - The Dawn of Adventure”
All Haki Types
Conqueror’s Haki, Armament Haki, Observation Haki
Although Devil Fruits were the original power system ofOne Piece, mastery of Haki is considered by most to be the only way to conquer the seas. There are three Haki types, but the strongest among them is called Conqueror’s Haki, which is said to be a power so incredible and rare that it is only seen in one person per million. Unlike the other Haki types, Conqueror’s Haki is said to be the only one that can’t be learned, since users are said to be born with it.
This is the power to overwhelm - the Color of Conqueror’s Haki! Most people who’ve made a name for themselves in the world possess this power.
As for how it works, it is simply the exertion of one’s will onto others. Those who can use this power have the strongest wills that can completely overpower those whose will is inferior, knocking them out in the process. No one knows how and who it can manifest within, but the common belief is that those with the greatest ambition can use Conqueror’s Haki since those who have been shown to use this power have this in common.
Zoro And Sanji’s Need For Conqueror’s Haki In The Final War
Why They Need This Power
Over the years, both Zoro and Sanji have increased in strength drastically to the point where they are generally considered to beamong the most powerful Yonko Commandersin the world. However, despite their undoubted strength, they both lack in some areas regarding Conqueror’s Haki which greatly limits their place within the rankings of the strongest characters in the series. Although Zoro is a confirmed user of this power, the Elbaf arc shows that he has no idea how to control it, while Sanji doesn’t have the power at all.
It’s clear that the greatest threats on the side of the World Government are the Gorosei and Gods' Knights, both of whom have the unique regenerative powers given to them by Imu. Because of this, these villains are virtually untouchable by anyone unable to use Conqueror’s Haki, which would just make Zoro and Sanji useless in the Final War if they can’t take on the strongest enemies in the setting. This alone necessitates their usage of the power.
Elbaf Offers An Answer
Out of all of Luffy’s allies that he has made throughout the story, none are more important than Zoro and Sanji, since they are often regarded as Luffy’s wings who will carry him to the level of Pirate King. With that being said, it’s impossible to assume that they won’t have a massive role to play in the Final War against the toughest enemies in the world, especially when keeping the Roger Pirates in mind. Roger, Rayleigh, and Scopper are the only ones who fitthe same crew structure as the Straw Hats, and all three had Conqueror’s Haki.
At the current moment, it seems that there is a further advancement of this ability that characters need to fight against the regenerative powers of Imu’s forces. Luffy will get to this stage quite easily since he is quite adept with Conqueror’s Haki and has been using it ever since the time skip, showing his mastery of the Advanced Form of it as well. Keeping this in mind, it won’t be too large of a problem for him to learn its final stage.
How absurd. Haki is a power that must be understood and tamed! How do you expect to support your captain, an Emperor of the Sea, without knowing that!?
However, knowing how complicated such mastery is, Zoro would need a far longer time to master the power since he only has the most basic version of it at the current moment which he can’t even use on command, whereas Sanji, on the other hand, doesn’t have the power at all. So, seeing how both need an incredible amount of refinement with it, many believe that, to get to such a stage, there will likely be anothertime skip at the end of Elbaf.
This has been a theory that many have speculated about for quite some time now. One of the biggest reasons why it may come to pass is because it would serve as the perfect way for Zoro and Sanji to awaken the power that is essential for the completion of both of their journeys, as well as the only power that can actually make them strong enough for the Final War.
