Summary
Bounties are a commonpart of the narrative motif inOne Piece. The government places these bounties on criminals of great renown, such as certain pirates, in the hopes of enticing people to aid in their capture. More often, however, they are used as a metric of strength among pirates, with some even going as far as to fake their own bounties. Sometimes, many pirates of renown gather in a single crew. This may be a tantalizing prospect for ambitious bounty hunters, but also a significant challenge in terms of actually capturing them.
In the world ofOne Piece, these are the crews that have the highest collective bounties. To simplify, this metric will make exclusive use ofconfirmed bountieswhen determining the sum for each crew. Certain high-profile crews include notable pirates with bounties that are either unconfirmed or outdated, but for the time being, some bounties remain purely speculative and thus cannot properly be taken into account.
5The Whitebeard Pirates
An Armada of Pirates
The Whitebeard Pirates are a former Yonko crew that was large enough to necessitate divisions, and also included several subordinate crews. Of those on the primary crew with known bounties,Edward “Whitebeard” Newgatehad a significant bounty of just over 5 billion Berries. Thus far, his is the second highest known bounty issued, with his rival, Gol D. Roger, having had the highest known bounty thus far. The other known major bounties belong to Division Commanders, who have authority over portions of the crew. Confirmed bounties include 1st Division Commander Marco (1,374 million), 2nd Division Commander Portgas D. Ace (550 million), and 16th Division Commander Izou (510 million).
Two subordinate captains have confirmed bounties: Squard, with a bounty of 210 million Berries, and Little Oars Jr., with 550 million. 3rd Division Commander Jozu and 5th Division Commander Vista are also confirmed to have bounties, but their exact amount is unknown. As the crew had a number of other division commanders and subordinate captains, it is highly plausible the total peak sum is significantly higher than what is known now. Since the crew splintered and went into hiding, with major members such as Ace and Whitebeard deceased, the remnants of the crew are worth less overall than they were at their peak.
4The Straw Hat Pirates
Luffy’s Crew
As the series protagonists, theStraw Hatsand their bounties are documented extensively. Monkey D. Luffy has a 3 billion Berry bounty, which he earned after he became one of the Yonko, having defeated Kaido. His crewmates with ten-digit bounties are Roronoa Zoro (1,111 million), Sanji (1,032 million) and Jinbe (1,100 million). Jinbe was a Shichibukai before becoming a Straw Hat, and has a documented history of piracy completely separate from the crew. Zoro and Sanji, despite not engaging in piracy before becoming Straw Hats, are also the stronger members of the crew.
.
Nico Robin has the highest nine-digit bounty, at 930 million. Due to her involvement with the scholars of Ohara, which marked her as a fugitive since the age of 8, her high bounty is understandable. Usopp is the second-highest at 500 million. This likely stems from the incident in Dressrosa, where his rescue of numerous people from the powers of Sugar’s Hobi Hobi no Mi earned him the moniker “God” Usopp.
The other nine-digit bounties in the crew are much less remarkable, with all of them being in the 300,000,000 range. The lowest bounty among the crew is a measly 1,000 Berries, belonging to human reindeer Tony Tony Chopper. This stems from a misconception that he is merely a pet of the Straw Hat Pirates, which lowers the cap significantly, much to his chagrin.
3The Cross Guild
Marine Bounty Hunters
The Cross Guild has flipped the concept of bounties on its head, havingput them on the marines. The crew is led by ex-Shichibukai, pirates who were largely pardoned by the government, in exchange for employment. However, due to abuses, this system was abolished. Buggy, the figurehead of the organization, has a bounty of 3,189 million Berries. However, he is actually fairly weak as a pirate, with his true strength resting in his ability to convince other pirates to work for him.
He is also not the highest bounty in the guild. Dracule Mihawk, one of its two secret leaders, has a bounty of 3,590 million. This is likely due to his status as the strongest swordsman in the world as well as a grudge against the marines, which led him to attack them prior to becoming a Shichibukai. Crocodile, the true founder of Cross Guild, has a bounty of 1,965 million. Crocodile was the founder of Baroque Works, reputed for his intellect and leadership, as well as his possession of a rare Logia Devil Fruit.
Non-Shichibukai bounties are significantly less impressive, with most being under 100 million. It is worth noting that all of these bounties predate the founding of Cross Guild, and are likely out of date. Additionally, due to the guild’s high concentration of ex-Impel Down convicts, there are probably other bounties that exist within the guild.
2Big Mom Pirates
The Family Business
TheBig Mom Piratesare led by Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin. True to her moniker, she is the mother of many children, who are also among the crew’s heavy hitters. Linlin (4,388 million) and her third-eldest son, Katakuri (1,057 million), are the only known members with ten-digit bounties. The other known Charlotte bounties in the Big Mom Pirates are all 9-digits, ranging from 932 million to 120 million.
Non-Charlottes in the crew also have bounties. The highest non-Charlotte bounty known is Tamago, a longleg who has a bounty of 429 million Berries. Big Mom also controls other pirate crews via arranged marriage. Prior to their defection, these included the Fire Tank Pirates (at least 535 million) and the Sun Pirates (at least 438 million prior to Jinbe’s exit from the crew).
Charlotte Amande has an unconfirmed bounty, and is likely not the only member of the crew with this distinction. Those with bounties tend to have leadership positions in the crew, such as Sweet Commanders (a rank occupied by Katakuri, Smoothie, Cracker, and formerly Snack). These positions tend to overlap with other authoritative ranks. Many of the strongest Charlottes are ministers, with control over an island on Big Mom’s archipelago, Totto Land.
1Beasts Pirates
A Monstrous Menagerie
As far as confirmed bounties go, the Beasts Pirates sit at the apex of pirate crews when the collective sums are totaled. This is attributable in part to Kaido’s desire for strong crewmates, which often leads him to go after other crews and add them to his might. He has a bounty of 4,611,100,000 Berries, attributable to his potential for destruction and lengthy history of evading capture and execution. His top subordinates, theAll-Stars, all have bounties in the 1–1.3 billion range: Arber “King”, Scien “Queen”, and “Jack.”
Kaido’s second rung of subordinates, the Tobiroppo, have lower but respectable bounties. Who’s-who, a former agent of Cipher Pol 9, has the highest bounty in this distinction at 546 million Berries. Other bounties at this rank include Black Maria, Sasaki, Ulti, and Page One, all with bounties between 480–290 million.
Members of the Worst Generation who joined the crew also have fairly high bounties. Scratchmen Apoo, who secretly joined as an informant, has a bounty of 350 million Berries. Basil Hawkins became one of Kaido’s lower-ranked officers, the shinuchi, and has a bounty of 320 million. X Drake, both a Tobiroppo and a member of the Worst Generation, had a bounty of 222 million. That said, seeing as he is an agent of SWORD, a black ops branch of the marines, it is unclear if his bounty is valid. He defected from Kaido after being exposed as an informant, removing it from the Beasts Pirates' total either way.
