Summary

WithOne Piece’sFinal War being right around the corner, it’s clear to see that all the major players of the world are slowly getting into position for when this massive conflict eventually starts. With Luffy and the Straw Hats being closer to Joyboy and Roger’s mythical treasure than ever before and all the Yonko being at the peak of their strength, it’s imperative for the World Government to do the same.

As such, the man who leads the military wing of this organization is none other thanAkainu, the Fleet Admiral of the Navy. This character has been an incredible overarching antagonist ever since he killed Ace and Whitebeard during the Marineford War, but it seems that many in theOne Piecefandom are overlooking just how much of a threat he will be in the Final War. So, let’s take a look at how he could be the strongest villain in all ofOne Piece.

Notable Current Vice Admirals

Smoker, Tsuru, Doll, John Giant, Doberman, Momonga

The Navy is seen as the direct opposite of the pirates, and although the latter aren’t one fixed organization like the former is, they offer a worldview that is opposed to them. As the Fleet Admiral,Akainu has the highest position within the Navyand has complete control over its structure, movements, and applications. There has been no concrete reveal about what exactly his job entails, but it is known that every single Marine is directly answerable to him.

This is one hell of an age to be Fleet Admiral in!

This includes the Admirals, who have always been portrayed as the ultimate military force of the World Government that also have full control of everything beneath them, so to have them be answerable to Akainu shows just how strong he will be in the Final War. During the Marineford War, Sengoku was the Fleet Admiral and the entire war was only called off when he said so, so this just goes to show how powerful Akainu will be in the Final War.

Story Arc

Marineford

In a world with incredibly powerful abilities and Devil Fruits that give people the power to take on entire armies by themselves, Oda has specifically stated thatAkainu’s Magu Magu no Mi Devil Fruitis the most offensively powerful of them all, which alone shows how big of a threat he is as a combatant as well. Whitebeard has always been known as the world’s strongest man, and although he was far past his prime during the Marineford arc, Akainu was the one to bring his reign to an end.

If whom you fear for is truly your family, then do not disgrace them.

For the initial part of the series, Logia Devil Fruits were incredibly overpowered due to their ability to largely negate physical damage done to their users, but Haki changed all of that. However, using Haki is quite a feat for the average person, so Akainu can only really be taken on by the strongest of characters. Plus, it’s largely implied that he has Awakened his Devil Fruit, making it far more dangerous and powerful to face, since this is likely the reason why half of Punk Hazard is perpetually on fire.

Akainu Is Likely A User Of All The Advanced Haki Types

A Necessary Power For The Final War

As stated previously, the threat of Devil Fruits in general greatly diminished once Haki was introduced and fleshed out properly as a concept. The invulnerability of Logiashas become a thing of the past, to the point where, at the current stage, it is almost a necessity for people to have Haki now that the Final Saga has started, and the characters are more powerful than ever before. At the very least, Akainu is confirmed to have Armament Haki, which was even seen briefly during the Marineford War.

Logia users who think they’re invincible tend to have short lifespans.

However, contextually, it wouldn’t make sense for him not to have the remaining Haki types considering how his predecessor, Fleet Admiral Sengoku, is one of the only Marines who has been confirmed as a user of all three Haki types. Naturally, to reach this level would imply that Akainu has it too. Moreover, the common trait among all users of Conqueror’s Haki is great ambition, which lines up with Akainu’s character arc as well since he is a firm believer in absolute justice and wants to wipe all evil from the world, which is incredibly ambitious.
