One Pieceis quite a long series, with the manga spanning over almost 3 decades now. With such a long run, it’s expected that, at some points, fans don’t agree with decisions taken by Oda. The latest choice made by Oda for the manga’s latest Volume cover was surely controversial, and many fans actually preferred his draft ideas over the final product.
Oda Has Revealed The Newest Volume Cover
The Cover For Volume 112 Is Officially Out
These last few years, theOne Piecemanga has been getting about three new volumes a year. With the release of each volume comes the reveal of a new volume cover, featuring stunning art by the author himself, and this is something fans are always looking forward to, especially as it can reveal color schemes of newly introduced characters.
In Elbaf, the previous cover was that of volume 111, and it showcased the controversial color scheme ofan important character, Loki. It also showed fans the colors of the Straw Hat Pirates’ Elbaf clothes.
Now, with One Piece Volume 112, the cover has been revealed, and it is definitely not what most fans expected. This new cover features quite a few characters, including the main character Luffy, Robin, and Saul as well, but also members of the New Giant Pirates, which include Hajrudin, Road, Stansen, Gerd, and Goldberg.
The cover itself is definitely great, but fans were majorly disappointed by it, and for a very valid reason.
Fans Are Not Happy With This Cover Due To Omissions
Many fans of the series were disappointed with the new cover, and not for reasons such as composition or art. Rather, fans are upset by the characters Oda chose to feature on this cover - mainly the New Giant Pirates. This is especially true since the New Giant Pirates did not contribute much to the events of this volume.
Fans wanted to see the relevant characters of this volume - notably the Holy Knights.These include Shamrock, Gunko, Sommers, and Killingham. This is especially bad news for fans of Shamrock as he has left Elbaf and won’t be featured in any volume cover anytime soon. And of course, the Holy Knights aside,fans really wanted to see Gaban on the cover.
Seeing these characters on the cover would have revealed to the fans their color schemes as well, something that has been a huge debate among readers.
What makes all of this worse is that Oda almost included all these characters in the cover, but decided against it in the end. All of that can be seen in his sketches which were also revealed.
The One Piece manga is on break. The next One Piece chapter, One Piece Chapter 1153 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on June 29.
