Naturally, the young girl was perplexed as to why Kuma didn’t write to her. The wise queen Conney grew suspicious of Alpha’s behavior. When the undercover agent refused to let Bonney go out to the sea, Conney realized that Alpha was not what she pretended to be.

Eventually, Conney and the townspeople decided to help Bonney get away from the island. They concocted a plan to put Bonney on a ship along with a few trustworthy people. Then Kuma took in Bonney and cared for her until he learned that she also had the Sapphire Scale Disease. Kuma explored every single option that could help him save his daughter. Finally, Kuma went to Vegapunk, who assured him that Bonney would be cured. Unfortunately, Jaygarcia Saturn intervened and added outrageous stipulations, which Kuma needed to accept at all costs. Before letting go of his humanity, Kuma created a giant paw bubble in which he stored all the memories.
The point of Kuma’s flashback was to show how selfless he was. He always prioritized the lives of others over his own. Before losing his humanity,Kuma fought for his daughter andher life. Kuma idolized Nika and wanted to be like him, but the Buccaneer never realized that he was just as big of a hero as the Sun God. Kuma not only saved hundreds of innocent people, but he even rescued the Straw Hat Pirates from imminent death.
