However,Windows 11 currently holds the largest market shareof Microsoft OS users at 51.36%, with Windows 10 not far behind at 45.57%. While Windows 10 will no longer receive mainstream feature updates starting this fall, users can enroll in an extended security update program for free by signing in to a Microsoft account and syncing their PC’s settings.

AlthoughFinal Fantasy 14will technically still be playable on Windows 10 after October 14, Square Enix stated that it cannot guarantee providing support for any problems that come up. However,Final Fantasy 14will continue to offer informal technical support to Windows 10 users on a case-by-case basis, though it is not guaranteed.Final Fantasy 14is also available on macOS alongside PlayStation and Xbox consoles with cross-play and cross-progression functionality, so users who do not want to play on Windows 11 have options.

The change matchesMicrosoft’s deadline to pull Windows 10 support, so users who want to stay in Microsoft’s ecosystem must update to Windows 11 once their machine is ready. Along with encouraging players to upgrade to Windows 11, the minimum specs forFinal Fantasy 14will change. The minimum CPU required to play the game will go from an Intel Core i7-7700 or higher to an Intel Core i5-8400 or newer. Ergo, users will need at least a six-core CPU from 2017 or later at the minimum to play the game on Windows 11. The other PC spec requirements required to playFinal Fantasy 14are unchanged.
