Summary

Ochaco Uraraka is one of the most beloved characters inMy Hero Academia, and a big reason why, outside of her vibrant design and unique abilities, is her fun and bubbly personality. Uraraka is someone who is able to lighten up the mood anytime things start looking a little dire for the heroes, which has ultimately resulted in her making a ton of friends over the course of her journey to become a hero. Still, while there are a lot of characters that Uraraka can rely on when the going gets tough, there are only a select few who can truly be considered her best friends.

These are the types of people that Uraraka can often be seen spending the most time with, but also those who she knows she can trust, which is always hugely important, especially when side-by-side on the battlefield. It’s time to take a closer look at the fan-favorite Uraraka to see which characters qualify as her closest friends inMy Hero Academia.

8Eri

Ochaco Does All She Can To Ensure Eri Doesn’t Feel Lonely

To say that Eri had a rough upbringing would be putting it lightly. As a young girl who possessed the immensely powerfulRewind Quirk, Eri was abused by the maniacal villain known as Overhaul, who wanted to use her Quirk in order to create his own arsenal of Quirk-destroying bullets. After Overhaul is taken down for good, it’s clear that Eri still has a lot of mental trauma that she must try to overcome, and this is something Uraraka takes note of.

During the Christmas party, Uraraka would spend much of her time chatting away and eating with Eri, forming a tight-knit bond with the young girl in order to help make her feel comfortable and safe at UA. There’s no doubt that as Eri gets older, her bond with Uraraka will only become stronger with time.

7Kyoka Jiro

Kyoka And Ochaco Can Often Be Seen Hanging Out With One Another During Their Time Off

Considering that theClass 1-A studentsare fighting against the villains for much of the series, it means Uraraka and Kyoka don’t get to share much time on-screen with one another. That being said, though, in the small glimpses that have been shown, it’s clear the two managed to form an incredibly close friendship after meeting one another upon joining UA.

This does make a lot of sense considering Kyoka’s laid-back and relaxed personality blends well with Uraraka, who is always eager to make new friends. Uraraka would even complement Kyoka during the school festival, giving her the confidence she needed to blow the audience away with her incredible singing voice and guitar skills.

6Gunhead

When each of the class 1-A students is tasked with working an internship under one of thePro Heroes, the last person that Uraraka would be expected to team up with is Gunhead. Despite seeming like polar opposites of one another, though, funnily enough, the two end up getting along pretty well, with their quirky personalities bouncing off one another, often resulting in some friendly banter.

Of course, considering Gunhead was also instrumental in teaching Uraraka about her own strengths and weaknesses, she also came to garner a lot of respect for him as a mentor, who inevitably ended up becoming her friend. Because Gunhead made the effort to actually get to know his personal student, which can’t be said for some of the other Pro Heroes, it allowed them to become close friends not long after they first met.

5Momo Yaoyorozu

Momo And Ochaco Stick Up For One Another Any Time The Going Gets Tough

Admittedly, Uraraka and Momo don’t interact too much throughout the series, but there are still several scenes that highlight that the two girls are very close. For example, when the other girls started pestering Uraraka about her underlying feelings for Deku, it was Momo who stood up to defend her friend, realizing that the whole scenario was making her pretty uncomfortable.

In the same vein, Uraraka would do her best to reassure Momo after the Class 1-A girls are forced to take up a cheerleading role during the sports festival. Both characters are pretty different in their personalities, but they share such a deep respect that it ensures the two close friends always look out for one another anytime the going gets tough.

4Mina Ashido

Mina Is A Supportive Friend Who Dreams Of Seeing Ochaco And Deku Together One Day

Though Mina tends to tease Uraraka quite a lot throughout the series, she’s not doing this out of a position of spite or hatred. Instead, Mina tries her hardest to encourage Uraraka to spill her true feelings for Deku, which only Mina feels confident enough to do, considering the two have been close friends since the beginning of the story.

The sign of a true best friend is someone who is able to say what they truly mean without holding back, and that’s exactly what Mina does anytime she notices Uraraka daydreaming aboutthe series' central protagonist. The two have also helped one another out on several missions and are always there to support one another through their emotional struggles, especially during the chaotic final war.

3Tenya Ida

Despite Their Drastically Different Backgrounds, Ochaco And Ida Get Along Extremely Well

Considering Uraraka decided to become a hero so that she could acquire the funds to support her parents, it initially seemed unlikely that she would want to buddy up to Ida, considering he is a member of awealthy and prestigious family. Despite their drastically different backgrounds, though, the reason the two students came to know each other is because of their mutual connection to Deku, with Uraraka quickly realizing that Ida isn’t the spoiled rich boy that many may perceive him as.

In fact, Ida is incredibly supportive of Uraraka, always being there to cheer her on anytime that doubts begin creeping into her mind. What also helped their relationship blossom is their humor, as while Ida often tries to act overly serious to live up to his role as class president, Uraraka simply finds this hilarious, resulting in the two having plenty of fun banter, which only made them closer.

2Tsuyu Asui

Ochaco Looks Past Tsuyu’s Frog-Like Appearance And Views Her As A Close Friend And Ally

As someone who possesses amutation Quirkwhich drastically changes her appearance, Tsuyu has always had a much harder time fitting in than most of her fellow classmates. However, one person who made sure never to be afraid when approaching Tsuyu was Uraraka, with the two striking up a very close bond pretty early on in the series.

This can be seen as early as the USJ arc, and since then, the two have formed an inseparable friendship that can never be broken. Though they usually don’t get the opportunity to cooperate in real missions, they’ve still worked together through several exams, and also enjoy simply hanging out with one another when they find the spare time.

1Deku

A Close Friendship Which Eventually Blossoms Into Romance

The first student that Deku runs into after enrolling at UA is Uraraka, and though he initially seems pretty nervous to speak to her, the two quickly warm up to one another after they start taking the exams. While all the Class 1-A students can be considered friends with one another, there’s always been this especially strong connection between Deku and Uraraka, with there being many scenes showing them checking up on one another anytime a villain suddenly attacks, or a mission goes horribly wrong.

When Deku decided to leave UA, for example, in order to draw awayAll For One and Shigaraki, Uraraka was by far the most worried about him, and would even land out a triumphant speech in order to protect him from being ridiculed. While this close friendship would eventually blossom into a romance at the very end of the series, Uraraka and Deku, for much of the series, are seen as best friends, especially considering the former never thought she’d be able to gain the courage to tell Deku how she truly felt.

My Hero Academia

Cast

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
