The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredis getting a physical edition for the PS5 in October 2025, with UK retailers opening up pre-orders ahead of its release. Its digital launch in April 2025 was met with both critical and popular acclaim, as many Bethesda fans enjoyed revisiting Cyrodiil despite the technical issues plaguingOblivion Remastered. With a burgeoning modding community and regular updates, it’s safe to say that Bethesda and Virtous are both pleased with the success thatOblivion Remasteredhas had thus far.
Given thatdevelopment forThe Elder Scrolls 6is still underway,Oblivion Remasteredcouldn’t have come out at a better time. Not only has it brought the setting of Tamriel back into video game discourse, but it may also serve as a valuable source of feedback for Bethesda, showcasing the biggest strengths ofThe Elder Scrolls, as well as highlighting what made players fall in love with the original game from 2006.
According to The Game Collection, physical copies of both the regular and deluxe editions ofOblivion Remasteredcan now be pre-ordered for the PS5. The physical edition will launch in October 2025, but it remains to be seen if the game’s data will be present on the disk itself, or if players will still be forced to download the majority ofOblivion Remasteredanyway. Bethesda and Virtuos recently released anew update forOblivion Remastered, and it’s currently unknown if these will also be accounted for on the physical disk.
Oblivion Remastered: When Is a Physical Edition Coming Out?
Previous Xbox ports for the PS5, such asIndiana Jones and the Great CircleandDOOM: The Dark Ages, ran into this problem, with many players complaining that the physical disk barely contained any data from the actual game. It remains to be seen if Bethesda will address the complaints viaOblivion Remastered, but at the very least, a physical copy should be enticing for the collector’s value alone. Despite its initial success, a good number ofOblivion Remasteredplayers have returned toSkyrim, likely after finishing the main quest or most of its major storylines.
While some may view this as a condemnation ofOblivion Remastered, it may actually be proof of how valuableSkyrim’s modding scenehas been in maintaining its longevity. DespiteOblivion Remasteredhaving an eager community of modders, it lacks the official modding support that other Bethesda Game Studios titles enjoy. For players who may want to experience a different take on modern Cyrodiil, theSkyrimmodSkyblivionis expected to be released by the end of the year. As forOblivion Remastered, players will be able to get their hands on a physical copy in October 2025.
