At the moment, distributor AIC has only said that the reason for the price change is due to “global market conditions” shifting. It’s not clear if this is due to a change in the value of currency, inflation, or something else.

While no announcements have been made from other distributors or Nintendo itself, it’s still possible thatthe price of the Switch 2 could increasefor other regions, as well. Shortly after the full reveal of the Switch 2, Nintendo President Furukawa indicated that the cost of the system could go up due to US tariffs. While this hasn’t happened yet, gamers may want to brace themselves for the possibility of a price increase.

The safest bet right now would be to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 as soon as possible, but unfortunately, that’s not the easiest thing to do. While the new console has seen some restocks, it’s believed thatNintendo may not be able to meet demand for the Switch 2until early 2026. Gamers who want a Switch 2 and happen to find one may want to seize upon the opportunity to get it at the current price.
