The changes to the Nintendo eShop gift card designs are not the only thing that has changed about the storefront in 2025. Even after the Switch 2’s successful launch, Nintendo is continuing to make some changes to some of its products.

As spotted by Twitter user Jacob Harris, some Nintendo eShop card designs have been reworked to include the updated character designs of Link and Donkey Kong, along with the storefront’s updated branding. These cards were spotted at a Walmart in Canada, so it is unclear if these designs will carry over to other countries where Nintendo conducts business. The card amounts that were featured are $25, $50, $99, and $150. The $50 card showed artwork of Link fromThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Previous eShop card designs had Link in his green tunic and cap from entries likeTwilight Princess. Additionally, the $150 card featured Donkey Kong inhis updated design fromDonkey Kong Bananza. The $25 and $99 cards featured Mario and Bowser in updated poses, with the latter assuming a pose with his back turned. As of this writing, it is not clear if other Nintendo eShop gift cards of different monetary amounts have received updated designs.

Nintendo eShop Cards Are Getting a Facelift

The updated Nintendo eShop gift card designs came as the company pulled the plug on a popular feature of the storefront. Starting in January 2026,Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers will no longer be available, though any remaining vouchers will still be good for up to one year after purchase. However, original Switch titles will continue to be added to the Game Voucher program throughout 2026.

AsNintendo shifts towards making some games fasterto offset the rising costs of production, the company is looking to capitalize on the success of the Switch 2. Only time will tell how many new Nintendo eShop card designs will make the rounds at retailers.
