In the latest Nintendo shareholder meeting, as reported byNintendoSoup, one shareholder posed a question to the president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, about whether the company will hold any live concerts in the future. Furukawa responded, saying that theNintendo Music appis one of the strategies Nintendo is employing to expose more people to the various soundtracks attached to the company’s games. He noted that he wants players to be able to relive their game experiences, as well. It seems live music performances have already been on Nintendo’s mind, as Furukawa added that the company will consider thinking about the possibility of holding concerts in the future.
Could New Nintendo Concerts Be in the Future?
While the Switch 2 has been a wild success thus far, Nintendo has also been turning its direction to overall outreach, as Furukawa noted. This includes media projects like movies, theme parks, and even opening a new Nintendo Store in San Francisco, California. At this point in time, Nintendo holding a new series of concerts sounds like a possibility, but not a certainty. Unfortunately, not every prior attempt at holding Nintendo live music performances has been a success. One of the most recent planned events was going to be aSplatoon 3concert held at the start of 2024, but it had to becanceled due to repeated threats made toward Nintendo staffand attendees. This may also be something that Nintendo keeps in mind as it ponders the possibilities.
With that said, Nintendo Music may help Nintendo to determine if a concert is feasible. Nintendo is likely keeping track to see how many people are listening to its music regularly on the app, and which games in particular are the most popular.
