Ninja Gaiden Rageboundis the first Ninja Gaiden game since Ninja Gaiden (2004) to revisit the earliest events of the Ninja Gaiden timeline. Running parallel to the Story of Ninja Gaiden (NES), this game stars Hayabusa Ninja Kenji Mozu and Black Spider Clan Kunoichi Komuri, two unlikely allies who must join forces to fend off the Demon King. Kenji and Komuri are both capable of using the Guillotine Boost to bounce on enemies and projectiles, dealing damage in the process, and can make use of Hypercharge to unleash devastating attacks that often instantly kill a target.
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound’s levels typically have Kenji and Komuri moving together, owing to their souls becoming linked early in the game’s story, and allow players to utilize Kenji’s melee attacks and Komuri’s ranged attacks freely as they fight their way through the stage. Komuri can also utilize specialized Black Spider Weapons to dish out even more damage and provide various secondary benefits, which range from homing-throwing fans to spinning blades that surround Kenji to strike nearby foes. Landing enough Hypercharge kills will build up energy for the game’s titular “Ragebound” techniques, powerful super moves that can dish out incredible damage or provide protective and healing effects, depending on which you have equipped.
Act 2 of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound focuses on Komuri, with players controlling her as she fights her way up to the top of the Black Spider HQ after it is assailed by demons, fighting through a veritable horde of demons in the process. On reaching the top, facing off with a flying demon boss, and speaking with the leader of the Clan, Komuri recieves a special weapon that can be used to seal the power of a Demon within the user and is tasked with using it to subjugate the Demon King. The rest of Act 2 has her heading down to the basement, retrieving her motorcycle, and fighting through even more demons in a chase through underground tunnels, along train tracks, and out into the wilderness, before finally arriving at the same location as Kenji.
All Golden Scarabs in Act 2-1 of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
The first mission of Act 2 has Kumori of the Black Spider Clan fighting her way through Black Spider HQas it comes under siege from demons. This first level will introduce you to Kumori and her Kunai-based fighting style, and features some trickily positioned Golden Scarabs that will often require a little bit of backtracking and a lot of combat to acquire.
Golden Scarab 1
To find this first Golden Scarab you’ll just need to travel through the level until you reach the section shown above, where you’re running along the top of some bookshelves. You’ll just need to drop down to the floor and grab it. The enemy nearby can block any attacks made against it, unless you attack while it’s breathing fire or during the brief window immediately before and after it does so. You can get around this by using a Hypercharge attack, which will pierce the shield and kill it instantly. There is an enemy nearby you can kill to gain the requisite Hypercharge, or you can spend HP to
Golden Scarab 2
The second Golden Scarab in mission 2-1 is found in the room above, but to reach it, you’ll first have to Guillotine Boost to get across the room, then climb up and hang from the ceiling to move back over to where the Golden Scarab is. Use Kumori’s Kunai to clear out the trap blocking the way and any enemies giving you trouble.
Golden Scarab 3
The third and final Golden Scarab in mission 2-1 is found in a room with a rather dangerous triple-laser trap, along the main path. You’ll need to take out the enemies and disable one of the traps by throwing Kunai from below to get across the room, then jump up and hang from the roof to work your way back over to this final Golden Scarab. With that done, you’ll just need to take out the mission boss to finish up 2-1.
All Golden Scarabs in Act 2-2 of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
Act 2-2 of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound has players heading down to the basement of Black Spider HQ to grab Kumori’s Motorcycle, going on a ride through underground tunnels and fending off hordes of demons, before breaking out into the wilderness in pursuit of the Demon King. While riding the Motorcycle, Kumori is still able to throw her Kunai in any direction by holding a directional button before tapping attack, though throwing them backward will often lead to unintended braking, so be careful. you’re able to also perform the Guillotine Boost while riding Kumori’s Motorcycle, allowing you to bounce on enemies and certain obstacles to launch into the air and avoid taking damage.
The first Golden Scarab in Act 2-2 is found floating in the air, a short way into the tunnels section of the level. It’s behind a big ogre enemy that you’ll only realistically be able to kill using Hypercharge, but you could also try Guillotine Boosting off him to bounce toward the Golden Scarab instead. The game will show an indicator when a Golden Scarab or Crystal Skull is coming up soon during vehicle segments like this one, so watch for it and be ready to jump up and grab it.
The second Golden Scarab in Act 2-2 is in the section where the demon driving a train begins to chase you. It’s floating in the air right at the start of the chase, and once again an indicator will show that it’s coming up. Do your best to clear out any enemies in your way so you don’t take any damage jumping up to grab it.
Triple Scarab 1
The first (and only) Triple Scarab in Act 2 is found during the outdoor section of the Motorcycle sequence, floating over a bottomless pit.The indicator for this one is easily missed because the indicator for the bottomless pit it’s floating over is understandably pretty distracting. As long as you jump with good timing, you should be able to grab it with no issue. A Triple Scarab is worth three Golden Scarabs for the purpose of purchasing items from Muramasa’s shop, making them incredibly valuable for players looking to expand their collection of Talismans and Secret arts, so if you spot one, you should always go out of your way to grab it.
