Little Nightmareshas confirmed its first foray into VR with its newly announced title,Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes. It is one of two new games currently in development for the critically acclaimed franchise, with the other one being the much-anticipatedLittle Nightmares 3.
Since breaking onto the scene eight years ago,Little Nightmareshas established itself as one of Bandai Namco’s highly rated IPs. Although a shadow of doubt was cast over the series after Embracer Group’s acquisition of developer Tarsier Studios in 2019, all that speculation was put to bed when a sequel was confirmed to be in development at Supermassive Games in 2023. Under its new developer,Little Nightmareslooks set to start afresh with two new protagoniststaking charge. However, it turns out that the involvement of a new studio isn’t the only refreshing change, with an unprecedented VR spin also in the works.
During the recent Little Nightmares Showcase Event stream, Bandai Namco revealed a new VR game set in theLittle Nightmaresuniverse titledLittle Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes,which is a separate project fromLittle Nightmares 3. The fleetingly short teaser video starts with the camera moving towards a door in a cave-like setting, behind which a musical box can be seen playing a tune until it is snatched away with a monstrous shriek. Not much was disclosed about the game, as the video description only shared a cryptic message, “Every step echoes closer… does this tune sound familiar, little ones?”

Apart from this, the event also locked downLittle Nightmares 3’s release dateand announced an enhanced version of the original game, both of which will roll out on June 15, 2025. In addition, the various editions of the forthcoming sequel were unveiled, as pre-orders for the same went live across platforms.
While video games headlined the Little Nightmares Showcase Event, they weren’t the only relevant media shown off during the stream. A slew of different tie-ins also took the stage, such as theLittle Nightmares: Descent to Nowherecomic book,The Sounds of Little Nightmaresaudio series, theLittle Nightmares: The Lonely Onesnovel, and an untitled stop-motion project. Interestingly, it isn’t the first time the series has crossed over to another medium, asLittle Nightmares-inspired comicshave come out in the past as well.
As fans hold their breath for the launch ofLittle Nightmares 3, they may want to check out another horror title of a similar style,The Midnight Walk, which was released in May 2025. Moreover,Reanimalby Tarsier Studios, theLittle Nightmarescreator, is also poised to cater to the same segment at some point in the future.
