Narutois Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus. He put together an excellent story that is full of outstanding characters. As the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki was the one who stood out the most. Not only was he incredibly powerful, but he also had an amazing personality. Naruto Uzumaki’s story spanned over 500 chapters, and it ended on a high note. Following its conclusion, a sequel titled Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was announced.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Is Considered A Mistake
Most Fans Dislike The Sequel Because Of Its Treatment Towards Old Characters
The announcement regarding Boruto divided opinion among fans. Some fans were happy that they would get to see more of their favorite characters, while others were skeptical of the decision. The second group believed it was a bad idea to create a sequel because it would inevitably lead to some serious damage to the older characters.
And my future dream is to be the greatest Hokage! —Naruto Uzumaki
Unfortunately, they were proven right in no time. The older characters were power crept by the new generation in next to no time, which was a shocking decision.Fans know that in shonen anime, the new generation often ends up surpassing the older one, but it usually happens fairly late in the story. Seeing the likes of Shino, Konohamaru, and Shikamaru struggle to keep up with the younger generation was baffling. However, the poor decisions didn’t stop there.
Masashi Kishimoto Completely Sidelined Naruto And Sasuke In Boruto
Kishimoto’s Mistake Has Affected Boruto’s Popularity
If making the new generation overpowered wasn’t enough, Kishimoto decided to take things a stepfurther by nerfing Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. It started with Naruto losing the Nine Tails in the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, which didn’t make too much sense. Somehow, Kurama had a secret technique that made Naruto stronger than an Otsutsuki. Additionally, he lied to Naruto about the technique’s true nature. One might even understand that Kurama prioritized Naruto’s life, but by doing so, he broke the latter’s trust. Naruto was later removed from the story altogether.
Masashi Kishimoto didn’t spare Sasuke Uchiha either. He was ragdolled by most of the opponents andwas later robbed of his Rinnegan by Boruto(when Momoshiki had taken over the boy’s body). Sasuke lost his greatest ability in an instant, which was again another awful decision by Kishimoto. It is important to mention that Sasuke wouldn’t have beaten Isshiki Otsutsuki even with the Rinnegan, so the decision didn’t make any sense whatsoever.
Fans Would Have Preferred A Sequel Without Naruto Or Sasuke
With every passing chapter, it’s becoming clear that Naruto and Sasuke were included in the sequel for one and one reason only—to appeal to the masses. It was obvious that fans wouldn’t be as interested in the sequel if Naruto and Sasuke weren’t present. So, they decided to include the two just to appeal to Naruto fans. But given their recent treatment, fans would have preferred asequel without Sasuke and Naruto, as it would have maintained their reputation.
Kishimoto could have even taken a different approach by creating a slice-of-life series that would focus on Naruto’s day-to-day life as the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf. He could have also shown Naruto’s interactions with his family. Furthermore, Kishimoto could have added an occasional fight for action aficionados.
The Boruto Anime Might Return Soon
There is not much that fans can do about the current situation, but they can still have hope that Naruto will be removed from the sidelines, and he will join the fray once again. Boruto is the protagonist of the sequel, but there is no denying that Naruto’s return would rekindle the interest of many fans.
Naruto’s return might happen in the Boruto anime. There is a good chance that the anime is getting closer to returning, and when it does, fans might get a chance to seetheir beloved orange-haired Hokageback in action. Of course, Naruto’s return won’t fix every single issue, but it will be a step in the right direction. The Boruto anime will also need to improve its pacing and stop putting in too many fillers. Hopefully, when the anime returns, it will be better than the first part.
