TheMy Hero Academiamanga concluded last year, and the anime will soon adapt the story’s final arc.My Hero Academia Season 8is set to premiere later this year, and, according to the production team, it will be the anime’s final season. There is even a special exhibition currently happening in Japan to celebrate the series and prepare fans for the next season.
Not many details about the upcoming season have been revealed yet, except for the release window and the main staff and cast. Based on what we know, the season will likely cover all the remaining chapters, but there is a lot of content that could be added to make the final season even more special.
Where Does My Hero Academia Season 7 Leave Off?
My Hero Academia Season 7aired in 2024, running for two cours and totaling 25 episodes. It covered the Star and Stripe, U.A. Traitor, and the beginning of the Final War arcs, ending with Chapter 398, the last chapter of Volume 39. This means thatMHA Season 8will have to cover from Chapter 399 to Chapter 431, which is actually a small amount of content considering the pacing of the anime.
Typically, the anime covers about 4 chapters per episode, which means that at the regular pacing, the rest of the Final War Arc and the Epilogue Arc could be adapted into only eight episodes, making it a rather short season, especially since final seasons typically aim to keep the audience engaged for at least a full cour (about 12 episodes). Furthermore, recent seasons of the series ran for two cours.
The Team Could Produce More Episodes with Bonus Content
This section contains a few spoilers for My Hero Academia.
If the season takes a slower pace, it could end with 12 episodes, like a typical anime season. The production team will likely focus on the thrilling battles of the Final War Arc, especially the fights between Tomura/All For One vs. All Might, the amazing battle between Tomura and Bakugo, and the final showdown between All For One and Deku. With strong animation, these scenes could be breathtaking and stretch across more episodes than usual. The final season will likely break the internet with these epic battles.
But there’s also another way the series could last for at least 12 episodes. Instead of just including the Epilogue Arc, which was extended in the final volume of the manga, the production team could also adaptadditional content released after Volume 42,including the special one-shot included inUltra Age: The Final Fanbook, released in May in Japan. The season would also benefit from expanding the cameo of Koichi Haimawari, the main character ofMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes, who briefly appears in the series after the final battle. Sincethe ending divided fans, extending it with additional content might help change some fans' minds.
When Will My Hero Academia Final Season Be Released?
My Hero Academia Final Seasonwill be released in October 2025. However, the exact release date, as well as the episode count, has yet to be announced. Fans expect that new details on Season 8 will emerge during Anime Expo 2025 in early July. Anime Expo has become a central place for major announcements as Japanese studios have started to focus more on international audiences.

Anime that begin in the Fall Anime Season typically premiere in early October. Either way, Crunchyroll has already announced that it will stream the series as it airs in Japan. Since the previous seasons were dubbed in English, the company will likely do the same this time.
What to Expect from MHA Season 8?
Season 8 will feature epic fights that will reach their full potential with proper investment. Naomi Nakayama is returning to direct the series, so fans can expect a similar style of direction. For a long time, fans have complained about the pacing of the anime, so having only 33 chapters left is a perfect opportunity to adopt a slower pace, especially if they want the series to air for at least three months. With this amount of content to be covered, the series is unlikely to follow the current trend of theatrical adaptations. However, the production could still come up with an original sequel movie.
My Hero Academiaisavailable to stream on Crunchyrollsubbed and dubbed in many languages. It is also on Netflix in select countries.
My Hero Academia
Cast
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
