This list contains spoilers up to the end of the final war of My Hero Academia
Summary
It’s completely natural for an anime character to get stronger over the course of a story, but there’s always going to inevitably be a few individuals who end up becoming severely overpowered. In the case ofMy Hero Academia, there are multiple key characters who fit this description, but how they ended up getting to this position differs greatly between them all. For some, it was their Quirks that resulted in them gaining such a tremendous boost in strength and power, while others were able to reach the peak of their performance thanks to a little assistance from their allies.
While a character being overpowered may sound bad on paper, it can actually end up making a series much more intense, exciting, and chaotic once these heroes and villains are eventually able to come face to face with one another. With all that being said, these areMy Hero Academiacharacters who have honed their Quirks and skills over time to eventually become extremely overpowered in terms of their abilities on the battlefield.
8Hitoshi Shinso
Shinso Leans A Valuable Ability Which Turns Him Into A Crucial Asset For The Heroes
Almost all the Quirks seen inMy Hero Academiawill come with their own drawbacks to ensure they don’t end up being too strong. For Shinso, while he could use his Brainwash Quirk to control a person’s body, he was unable to make them speak, which ultimately could have made him useful for getting vital information out of any villains that he intercepts on his missions.
This was an understandable limitation for Shinso to have, but surprisingly, the moody student reveals just before the final war kicks off that he has managed to master his Quirk so he can now force his targets to speak. He would go on to use this to control thegiant mutant known as Gigantomachiaby mimicking All For One’s voice, and while it might seem like a small enhancement, the potential for how he could use it is limitless, making Shinso an extremely strong hero thanks to his upgraded Quirk.
7Twice
Similarly to Toga, Twice didn’t exactly get along all that well with his Quirk, which allows him to create a double of anything he touches. After creating multiple versions of himself, Twice began wondering whether he was even the real persona at all, or just yet another clone who is inevitably going to disappear sooner or later. Because of this, Twice seems very cautious about using his Quirk inearly story arcs, considering how much damage it had already dealt to his mental state in the past.
However, once the League of Villains is forced to go up against the Meta Liberation Army, Twice decides that it’s time to let his mind, and his clones, run wild. By unleashing what he calls the Sad Man’s Parade, Twice was able to flood an entire city with his clones, completely overwhelming the MLA due to them being vastly outnumbered. Though Twice didn’t stick around long enough to partake in the final war, nobody could have expected that he would end up being this powerful, especially considering his goofy and jovial persona.
6Himiko Toga
Toga Masters Her Quirk, Enabling Her To Steal Other People’s Quirks
When she was growing up, Toga was made to feel ashamed of her Quirk, which required her to regularly consume blood in order to keep herself sane. By the time the main story kicks off, Toga already has a decent grasp of how her Quirk works, enabling her to mimic the appearance of other people after she drinks some of their blood. At first, though, she would only really use this forsneaking around as part of espionage missions, but this would slowly change over time once she began to master her personal ability.
In her fight with Curious, Toga was able to not only take the appearance of Uraraka, but she was even able to copy her Zero Gravity Quirk, which she would use to crush Curious and her loyal soldiers into the ground. Where this ability really went over the top though is in the final arc, when Toga takes the appearance of Twice and begins using his Quirk to create an entire army for the heroes to deal with. The once shy and timid member of the League of Villains eventually becomes one of the heroes' primary targets after she awakens the true potential of her Quirk.
5Dabi
Dabi’s Blueflame Quirk Turns Him Into A Ticking Time Bomb
For a good bulk of the story, Dabi is presented as being somewhat of a loner who often prefers to remain in the shadows rather than making his presence known. While he would show off his powerful Blueflame Quirk every now and again, it would be a while before fans would be shown just how devastating Dabi can truly be when he decides to go all out. It’s really with Dabi’s dance andthe emotional confrontation between him and his fatherthat the villain would begin to turn into an unstoppable monster.
With his underlying rage at a boiling point and his Blueflame Quirk going out of control, Dabi turns into a ticking time bomb during the final war, who was more than willing to incinerate himself to burn everything in sight. Dabi would be so dangerous in this form that the heroes made him a specific target when executing their plan of attack, which makes sense, since if he were able to explode, the war would have been over before it even started.
4All For One
By Using Rewind, All For One Turns Into An Absurdly Powerful Demon Lord
Considering his body is able to contain an entire arsenal of dangerous Quirks, All For One already debuted in the story as an extremely powerful villain, but the truth is, this would be nowhere near his peak. In a clever attempt to make himself even stronger, All For One decides to use a sample ofEri’s Rewind Quirkin order to revert his body back to a younger form, which was so powerful that he was single-handedly able to take on an army of heroes without breaking a sweat.
Considering All Might was far from his prime by the end of the story, it meant there were very few individuals who even stood a chance of standing up to All For One after he began using Rewind. Still, this is somewhat of a double-edged sword, considering the more damage All For One takes, the faster that Rewind will work, eventually turning him into a baby; but there’s no doubt that he was severely overpowered when he was able to fight as a younger version of himself.
3Katsuki Bakugo
Bakugo’s Awakened Quirk Ability Allows Him To Move At Lightning Speed While Dishing Out Damage
During the first fewhero exams, Bakugo proves himself to be one of the strongest students in all of UA, and it’s primarily due to his Explosion Quirk, which allows him to dish out tons of damage in barely any time at all. As the story goes on, not only does Bakugo learn the true responsibilities that come with being a hero, but he also finds creative ways to utilize his Quirk, eventually resulting in him awakening the ability during his intense battle with Shigaraki.
With explosions emanating from his body and a brand-new panzer suit to accompany him, Bakugo felt truly unstoppable during this final portion of the story. In fact, Bakugo would be so overpowered that even All For One himself had trouble fending him off, which just goes to show how far this arrogant student has come since the early episodes of the series.
2Tomura Shigaraki
Shigaraki Can Destroy Entire Cities With A Single Touch
Considering he is technically the main villain of the series, it makes sense that Shigaraki would only end up becoming stronger as the story goes on, but it’s honestly staggering just how much damage this maniacal villain is capable of dealing after heawakens his Quirk. Initially, Decay was only able to work on a single person, but during his fight with Re-Destro, Shigaraki came to embrace the true potential of his ability, enabling him to obliterate entire landscapes with a single touch.
After he was experimented on by Dr. Karaki, Shigaraki would also be handed down the All For One Quirk by his master, letting him use an abundance of other abilities alongside his already absurdly overpowered Decay. Shigaraki would become so powerful that the heroes were forced to fight him on a floating arena in the final war, since they knew well that he could flatten the entire city if he were on the surface, which gives an idea of how insanely strong this guy eventually becomes.
1Deku
From Quirkless Nobody To The Hero Who Saved Japan
It can honestly be hard to believe these days that there was once a time when Deku didn’t even possess a Quirk of his own, consideringhe comes to acquire so many of themafter he starts training to become a hero. One For All already granted Deku a tremendous strength boost, but after he encounters the previous holders of the Quirk during the Joint Training arc, he gradually acquires multiple powerful abilities that aid him in his mission to take down Shigaraki and All For One.
By honing his skills and mastering each of his new abilities, Deku is able to strike fear into the eyes of any villains who dare to stand up to him in the later arcs of the story. After he went rogue, Deku was sweeping up villains left and right without needing any assistance, and, of course, he was also the only person capable of dealing any kind of significant damage to Shigaraki in the final war. Seeing Deku become stronger and more confident in his abilities has been a joy to watch over the course of the series, but there’s no doubt that he is incredibly overpowered once the final war kicks off, even exceeding All Might himself, which is far from an easy feat.
My Hero Academia
Cast
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
