1Magma

Lava-Filled DLC Map From Black Ops 2

WithBlack Ops 7being a sequel toBlack Ops 2, it’s only natural that some of its roster of maps should make a return with its release, withMagmabeing an excellent inclusion. This medium-sized map made its initial debut in the Uprising DLC Pack, taking players to Kitakyushu, Japan, in the year 2025, which has fallen victim to a volcanic eruption. The map is definitely out there, but with a rather cool visual aesthetic, hazardous lava to avoid, three distinct lanes, and even underground passageways that add a bit of verticality, the map definitely played quite well.

For a while now, crazy ideas forCall of Dutymaps have seemingly been put on the back burner. However, remastering a map like Magma wouldgive Treyarch the ability to test the waters for more wacky multiplayer mapsto explore. Add in the rumors of a potential visit to Japan during theBlack Ops 7Campaign, and throwing Magma into the multiplayer map pool may be the most fitting move as far as map remasters go.

2Infection

Gravity-Defying Simulation Map From Black Ops 3

Infectionis without a doubt one of the coolest yetstrangest-looking maps inCall of Dutyhistory, and it may just be overdue for a remaster, withBlack Ops 7being the perfectCall of Dutytitle for its return. Treyarch is definitely no stranger to remastering jetpack-eraCall of Dutymaps for their boots-on-the-ground games, as Fringe saw its return inBlack Ops 6for the first time sinceBlack Ops 3. Therefore, Infection could make for an excellent addition sometime duringBlack Ops 7’slifecycle.

Infection takes players to a war-torn town somewhere in France amidst the Second World War, but something is definitely off. For starters, the world around the map seems to be breaking apart, andanother map can be seen stitched to the side of it, forming a wall—one some fans may recognize as Carentan from the originalCall of Duty. The trippy design of this map definitely makes it a fitting inclusion forBlack Ops 7, which has the motto “embrace the madness” present in all of its marketing.

3Nuketown

A Staple For The Black Ops Series

At this point, the question isn’t whetherNuketownwill arrive inBlack Ops 7, but when.Nuketown is somewhat of a staple for theBlack Opsseries, havingbeen present in every single title since the originalBlack Ops. While Treyarch’sBlack Ops 7is immediately followingBlack Ops 6, which also featured Nuketown, it’s entirely likely that the fan-favorite map will return once again in some form.

The lazy way this could happen is by simply carrying forwardBlack Ops 6’sNuketown intoBlack Ops 7, but that’s less than desirable. Instead, withBlack Ops 7taking place in 2035,a more futuristic rendition of the map—perhaps more in the style of Nuketown 2025 or even Nuk3town fromBlack Ops 3—would be a much more fitting addition to the map pool.

4Hijacked

Small & Hectic Map From Black Ops 2

Nuketown is easily one of the most iconic maps in theBlack Opsseries, especially for players who enjoy nonstop action due to its tight, chaotic layout. That said, another small-scale map that holds a similar appeal isHijacked, which originally debuted inBlack Ops 2multiplayer. Hijacked has long been a fan-favorite, taking playersaboard a luxury yacht set at sea, with tight corridors, three distinct lanes, and interior sections on both spawns spanning two levels.

Its small and chaotic gameplay is its biggest appeal, especially in objective-based modes like Search and Destroy. Given thatBlack Ops 7is also a direct sequel toBlack Ops 2, Hijacked feels like a natural fit to return during its lifecycle. It would make for a perfect Strike map capable of supporting both 2v2 and 6v6 playlists—assuming the same playlist structure fromBlack Ops 6is carried over.

5Aftermath

War-Torn Cityscape From Black Ops 2

From chaotic, small-scale maps to the ruined downtown of Los Angeles, we now haveAftermath—a map that carries significant narrative weight inBlack Ops 2. It’s set in the aftermath of the mission Cordis Die, where a drone strike devastates Los Angeles. WithBlack Ops 7seemingly continuing this storyline and bringing the Cordis Die movement back to the forefront of its campaign,Aftermath feels like a strong candidate for a multiplayer remake.

Aftermath is more ofa medium-sized map, set in the wreckage of downtown L.A., and features multiple buildings that players can enter and lock down. It offers a mix of open areas and long sightlines for ranged encounters, as well astight corners and narrow pathsthat create frantic close-quarters gunfights and provide chokepoints to control. The map holds up well in terms of gameplay, considering it was one ofBlack Ops 2’slaunch maps. With this being the case, it would be great to seeBlack Ops 7pay homage to it in some shape or form.

6Express

High Speed Railway Map From Black Ops 2

Following the trend ofBlack Ops 2maps—anddefinitely one of the more iconic entries on this list—isExpress, a launch map fromBlack Ops 2that also made a return inBlack Ops Cold Warduring Season One. This semi-medium-sized map drops players intoa high-speed railway station in Los Angeles, where battles can unfold across the tracks or inside the terminal on the northern side of the map.

The map takes a significant departure from the traditional layouts seen in many otherBlack Ops 2maps, featuring a curved railway that stretches from the left to the right side of the play area.An express train will also periodically blitz through the open track, instantly eliminating any players caught in its path. With its fast-paced action and unconventional design, Express remains a fun and unique entry, making it an excellent candidate for a remaster inBlack Ops 7.

7Stronghold

Snowy Estate From Black Ops 3

Next up is aBlack Ops 3launch map that many players may have forgotten about altogether.Strongholdmight not be the first map that comes to mind for long-timeCall of Dutyfans when thinking about remasters, but it definitely played well when it was last seen. While it debuted for a game that featured advanced movement, the general lack of areas requiring wall-running to avoid falling out of boundsmakes the map surprisingly boots-on-the-ground friendly, which could make for a great candidate for a remaster inBlack Ops 7.

Stronghold is more ofa medium-sized map, featuring a large central building on the eastern side, with another interior space on the opposite end that leads down to the northern flank route. There’s also a smaller building on the other side of the map. The remaining area is composed of snowy, rocky forest terrain thatblends tight lanes for close-quarter combat with long sightlines ideal for ranged gunfights. While seeing Stronghold return inBlack Ops 7might be a long shot, with a little innovation, it could definitely work.

8Cargo

Dynamic Map From Black Ops 2

Back toBlack Ops 2maps now withCargo, one of the launch multiplayer battlegrounds that stands out in the initial roster. Cargo takes players to the semi-futuristic Port of Singapore, offering a mix of tight, narrow lanesfor intense close-quarters and ranged encounters, along with open areas, such as the circular portion near the map’s center.

What sets Cargo apart from many other maps on this list is howthe play area changes throughout the match.During gameplay, shipping containers are periodically raised and lowered, potentially opening up new sightlines or cutting off key areas altogether. This dynamic feature is definitely one of Cargo’s defining traits, and it could make for a fresh experience if it were to return toBlack Ops 7.

9Raid

Iconic Launch Map From Black Ops 2

When it comes toBlack Ops 2maps that should return forBlack Ops 7,Raidis often at the center of the conversation. Raid has definitely seen its fair share of remasters—appearing inCall of Duty Online,COD Mobile, and even making a return in Season One ofBlack Ops Cold War. However, with maps like Nuketown appearing in everyBlack Opstitle since the original, it’s not entirely out of the question to see Raid return once again inBlack Ops 7.

Raid is absolutely a fan-favorite,transporting players to a luxury estate in Hollywood Hills. Here, players can expect a mix of close-quarters action within the mansion, blended with long-range encounters around the estate. Expect fights between luxury supercars and chaotic gunfights around swimming pools. As one of the most iconicBlack Ops 2maps to date, Raid is a fitting location that deserves to make its return inBlack Ops 7multiplayer.

10Hunted

Mountain Lodge From Black Ops 3

Last but not least isHuntedfromBlack Ops 3,another map included in the game’s initial launch roster. Hunted may be one of the more overlooked maps in the franchise for some—especially for those considering potential remasters forBlack Ops 7—but it’s a solid contender for a few key reasons. The map itself is definitely one of the more vibrant on this list, taking players to a mountain lodge surrounded by rocky forest terrainand several standout features.

Hunted leans more toward the large side, consisting of the lodge itself near the map’s center, a smaller building on the opposite end, and various surrounding areas such asa cave system that leads directly to a body of waterflowing off the map. While there are certainly areas originally designed to accommodateBlack Ops 3’sadvanced movement, with a bit of adjustment, Hunted could absolutely be adapted to support boots-on-the-ground gameplay inBlack Ops 7.
