Diablo 4has been a story of series firsts since the game was released back in 2023, featuring several major landmarks, such as the first fully open worldDiablogame and the first time the Spiritborn class has made an appearance. WhileDiablo 4has been somewhat stagnant since the Vessel of Hatred expansion was released, the game continues to feature some historic series firsts. One such achievement came during last season’s March of the Goblins event, which introduced six types of Treasure Goblins to the game, including one that is the rarest in the entire series.
Treasure Goblinshave always been elusive, sought-after enemies since their franchise debut inDiablo 3. Chasing down and defeating these rare critters can be a challenge in itself, since Treasure Goblins tend to sprint away from the player on sight, often through hordes of other enemies. However, the rewards for successfully catching these goblins are usually worth the effort, but even having the chance to encounter some of the rarest goblinsDiablo 4has to offer is something not even the most dedicated players will ever see.
Diablo 4 Has One Treasure Goblin That Players Are Unlikely to Ever Encounter
Diablo 4’s Goblin Variants Are Hard to Come By
These goblins made their debut during theMarch of the Goblins eventback duringDiablo 4’s Season of Witchcraft. While their spawns were increased during the event, they are now permanent additions to the game. Prior to this update, Treasure Goblins would drop a mix of Legendary and Rare gear along with various amounts of Gold, materials, and Elixirs. However, now players can tell what type of goblin they’ve spotted by its color before engaging in a chase to claim its loot before it vanishes.
Dividing Treasure Goblins into these different categories is new toDiablo 4, but existed previously inDiablo 3as well. Many of the six different Treasure Goblin types inDiablo 4have a counterpart inDiablo 3, with the major exception of Fancy Old Fedric, sinceMythic Uniques are a new addition toDiablo 4. All of these Treasure Goblins are rare encounters thatDiablo 4players will have a hard time finding outside of an event like March of the Goblins, but even with increased spawns, it’s unlikely players will ever see Fancy Old Fedric.
Diablo 4’s Fancy Old Fedric May Be One of the Rarest Video Game Enemies Ever
When these new goblin types debuted inDiablo 4, Blizzard touted Fancy Old Fedric as having a “one in a million” chance of appearing, making the enemy even rarer thanDiablo 4’s rarest Mythic Uniques. While players can reliablyfarm for specificDiablo 4Mythics, there is no way to guarantee Treasure Goblin spawns, making them much harder to hunt for.
It can be hard to tell the difference between Fancy Old Fedric and Curious Murl since both are shades of purple. However, it’s more likely that players have seen Murl than Fedric if they have seen a purple Treasure Goblin.
In the months since their debut, mostDiablo 4fans have still never seen Fancy Old Fedric spawn in their game. In contrast, thefirst Mythic Uniques inDiablo 4started popping up within a month of the game’s launch. While there may be the odd confirmed sighting of Fancy Old Fedric inDiablo 4floating around the internet, most players shouldn’t hold their breath waiting to find what may be one of—if not the—rarest enemies in all of gaming.
