July will be full of emotions forKaiju No. 8fans. The second season of the anime will finally start airing, but the originalKaiju No. 8manga is bidding fans farewell. There’s surely a lot to anticipate in July, whether it’s good or bad.
Fans have known that the manga was heading towards its end for a while, but this kind of announcement always takes fans by surprise either way. The manga has gained a lot of attention since its release on the Shonen Jump+ and MANGA Plus apps in 2020, mostly due to its unique premise.
Kaiju No. 8’s Final Chapter Will Be Released in 2025
Chapter 129 will beKaiju No. 8’s final chapter, andit is officially scheduled for release at 3:00 PM (GMT) on Jun 21, 2025. As usual, the chapter will be added to Shonen Jump+ (in Japan) and MANGA Plus (internationally) at the same time. Currently, 15 volumes have been released, so the manga will likely conclude with volume 16, compiling Chapters 120–129, making it slightly longer than usual.
Another option would be finishing it with Volume 17, which would likely mean that the final volume will contain a lot of bonus content. Typically, the compiled volumes feature some changes and small additions compared to the original chapters, and it’s also common for final volumes to contain an epilogue or an extended ending. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the final volume contained the last three or four chapters and one or two additional chapters.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Will Debut After the End of the Manga
The manga will end on July 17 (July 18 in Japan), andKaiju No. 8 Season 2will debut in Japanon July 19, just one day after the manga ends. Crunchyroll has already announced that it will stream the series as it airs in Japan, and fans expect it will provide an English dub, just like it did with the first season. The anime’s production is reportedly mostly the same, at least in terms of the main staff and cast.
While some may think that concluding with 16 or 17 volumes is short for aShonen Jumpseries, that’s actually a solid length for most of the magazine’s history, especially since the 1980s.Kaiju No. 8may not have been a partof a potential next “Big Three,” but it’s hard to say it hasn’t been successful at all; in fact, it seems unlikely thatShonen Jumpwill find another Big Three so soon.
Kaiju No. 8is available to read on MANGA Plus in English and many other languages.
