July is turning out to be a crowded but exciting month forPokemonfans. For one, Niantic and Scopely’sPokemon GOwill host its July 2025 Community Day on July 20 from 2–5 pm local time, centering onPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Duckling Pokemon Quaxly.
Pokemonwill later host a digital Pokemon Presents event on July 22, wherein many fans are expecting to hear more news and features about suspected new Mega Evolutions in the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-A. However, a select fewPokemonfans will be able to learn more about Mega Evolution on July 24–27 if they’re attending California’s San Diego Comic Convention.
Pokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth Explained
The 59th San Diego Comic Con, SDCC 2025, is expected to host over 130,000 attendees but, due to limited ticket availability, ticket prices, and space, only a select fewPokemonfans will be able to attend the convention and visitPokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth. Described as a “walk-through convention experience”,Pokemon’s Mega Evolution Experience Booth will have visitors learn Evolution inPokemon Legends: Z-A, thePokemon Trading Card Game, andPokemon GO. Mega Evolution hasn’t been present in a proper mainlinePokemongame since 2017’sPokemon Ultra SunandUltra Moon, so it makes sense for Nintendo to be interested in reminding people of Mega Evolution’s mechanics.
Potential Pokemon Legends: Z-A Tie-Ins at the SDCC Booth
With theJuly Pokemon Presents eventtaking place two days before SDCC begins, thePokemonMega Evolution Experience Booth may feature some tie-in information or features with new gameplay and narrative details revealed at the digital presentation. For example, it’s expected that Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will reveal new Mega Evolutions at Pokemon Presents following leaks released in March earlier this year.
These leaks weren’t confirmed by Game Freak or Nintendo, but they were released by credible leakers, so it is possible forPokemon Legends: Z-Ato feature 27 new Mega Evolutionson top of the preexisting 48 Mega Evolutions. These rumored new Mega Evolutions include:
If thePokemonMega Evolution leaks turn out to be true, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company still may not showcase all 27 new Mega Evolutions during Pokemon Presents to keep a few more surprises left forPokemon Legends: Z-A’s launch. With Z-A players returning to Kalos 12 years afterPokemon XandY’s release, it would make sense for Nintendo to reveal Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja and have them featured at the booth since they’re essentially the mascots of Kalos. Pokemon Presents and the booth may additionally showcase Mega Meganium, Mega Feraligatr, and Mega Emboar asChikorita, Totodile, and Tepig will bePokemon Legends: Z-A’s starters.
