Now that you have tackled Act 1 ofThe Alters, you and the Scientist are getting to know one another. He’s a great alter to lean on, and you spend significantly more time talking to him than any of the others.
As you roll past the lava pit that has given you so much trouble, you come to a halt again, and you won’t be able to get through this next anomaly without a lot of help from Jan Scientist. Here’s how to keep him happy and healthy in the second part ofThe Alters.
All Dialogue Options In Act 2 With the Scientist in The Alters
Keeping the Scientist happy is a lot easier than keeping the otheralters happy inThe Alters. All he cares about is getting things done, doesn’t care about emotions or other people’s feelings, and wants as much Rapidium to be mined as possible. Here are all the best choices for the Scientist.
Post-Party Chat
AfterAct 1 ofThe Alters, it’s best if youdon’t ask the Scientistabout how he feels after the party. He doesn’t feel great, and he will not have a positive response to you asking about it. you may just ignore this prompt until it goes away on its own.

Mmm…amazing… the sheer scale of it… I wonder if it’s related to the Interal?

Yes. Fascinating stuff… the gravity field distortion forms a remarkable pattern… It’s not like any of the other distortions we’ve encountered.
How do we proceed?

It will have to be very powerful AND extremely precise. I’ll need some time to make the calculations. One mistake - and this whole thing can go dangerously wrong.

You could have done it as well had you taken the time to stop and think.

Part of it was covered with a strange, transparent film. Like mutated tissue of some sort.

It will be an effort to build them… but if operated correctly, they should do the trick and give us safe passage through.

If we don’t find a cure, we will all die, just like the sheep. The whole crew, except for you. It’s a matter of days.
So… how do we find a cure?

We Have to Limit Our Radiation Exposure
In order to keep the Scientist happy, you should side with him in his discussion about more Rad filters to make sure that everyone stays healthy. After you finish, you will be able to have a unique conversation about it with him. While this example features the Botanist, other alters will bring this up if you don’t have him on board.

Our friend got angry that you didn’t indulge him. He tried to force me to explain the research to him, and things quickly got out of hand.
I made the right choice. He wouldn’t even understand your notes.
We took a lot of unnecessary risks getting into that old pickup truck without giving it a proper checkup first. What were we thinking?

It’s remarkable, because theoretically I had all the necessary knowledge in my head, but I had to backtrack my line of thinking to unblock it…

You will live through your work.

But in this world - you are the one who will get recognition for what I achieved. Because you are Jan Dolski.
According to science, you are me.
No change.
And the facts are that, empirically - I am not you. I have my own, autonomous identity.
No arguing with that.
And I need to know if I’m gone, you’ll take care of it.
I promise to think about it when the time comes.
No, Jan. The future is too uncertain. I need you to make a decision now.

The Scientist vs. The Cure
Unlike most of the other alters, the Scientist doesn’t care which solution youchoose between the Tabula Rasa or the Implants. The only thing he cares about is making the mission a success and surviving at this point, and he will take any emotional responses as a reason to lower his opinion of you.
Aware-ness free?
[Both answers have the same outcome.]
It sounds like a promising idea. Why would I not be okay with it?
Just remember, Maxwell gave us a viable option. Shouldn’t we just proceed with that instead of complicating things?
I won’t lie to you, yes.
But… on an empirical level, I’m not so sure it’s a good idea.
I have doubts, too.
What if it concerned you? Would you inject a tracking device for convicts into your own brain?
Never.
All I’m saying is that you should decide responsibly. With the potential consequences for all of us in mind.
[Both choices have the same outcome.]
As for the results… well, we’ll just have to wait. But I guess it’s in the hands of Ally Corp. medical now.
