This post contains spoilers for Boruto.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsis the sequel to the popular ninja story by Masashi Kishimoto. When the manga was released, it divided opinion. Most fans were skeptical about Boruto and doubted if the series would give the same vibe as Naruto.
Despite many rumors mentioning a possible cancellation, Boruto has survived being axed and, currently, is among the most popular manga. At the center of the series has always been Boruto Uzumaki, the son of Naruto. He’s developed into an excellent fighter, and recently Ikemoto dropped a hint about his powers.
Boruto Uzumaki Is Already One Of The Strongest Characters
Boruto Uzumaki Is Insanely Overpowered
Boruto Uzumaki is a born genius who is able to master the hardest techniques in next to no time. His potential became evident in the first half of the serieswhen he mastered Rasengan and addedLightning Release to it. After successfully incorporating an element into the Rasengan, Boruto became the first person since Naruto to do so.Other users of the Rasengan, like Minato, Jiraiya, and Konohamaru, failed to accomplish this particular task.
Boruto’s power has continued to increase with every passing arc. He has learned to handle the Jogan better, mastered more jutsu, and improved his physical abilities significantly. His growth as a fighter has made himcapable of fighting Otsutsuki-level threatswithout too many problems. If he continues to develop at the same pace, then it won’t be long before he becomes the undisputed strongest character in the series. Some fans might wonder if that’s what the author wants. Luckily, he provided the audience with an answer.
Ikemoto Wants Boruto To Surpass Naruto
The Author Wants Boruto To Be His Own Person
In a recent interview, Ikemoto talked about both Naruto and Boruto. He mentioned that Naruto’s presence made it difficult to write Boruto. The author tersely spoke about the challenges associated with writing the sequel. He also said that Boruto has become a solid protagonist and carved out a separate path for himself. Ikemoto also insinuated that Boruto might surpass Naruto in terms of being a hero.
Inorder to be a bigger hero figure than Naruto, Boruto has to surpass his father in terms of strength. The threats in Boruto as bigger, and the hero can only neutralize them by becoming stronger. The author also stated that a lot of the story is dependent on the readers, and he urged them to support them. The full quote from Ikemoto can be found below:
I realize that Boruto started as a sequel to Naruto, but due to Naruto’s massive presence, it’s been a pretty tough road to travel. Boruto has finally emerged as a proper protagonist in his own right. But will he be a hero on the same level as his father? Or maybe even surpass him? To be honest… I’m not entirely sure what’ll happen, myself. That’ll depend on the support of our readers, so please keep on cheering for us. —Ikemoto
Will Naruto Return In Boruto?
The Hero Will Make A Comeback At Some Point
Currently, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is whether Naruto will return to the story or not. There is a good chance that the hero will actually be free from captivity, after which he will join the fray. But it won’t be happening anytime soon. Ikemoto’s primary focus is on Boruto and the other new generation of characters because he wants to create something different from Kishimoto’s story.
If he involves Naruto in the story, chances are that the attention will be entirely on the orange-haired ninja, which could prove detrimental to Boruto’s fame. Additionally, Ikemoto will have to be extremely careful with how he handles Naruto’s character. Fans were not pleased to see their beloved hero being overpowered and then being humiliated by the new characters. So, Ikemoto needs to carefully plan Naruto’s return.
Aside fromNaruto, fans are also eager to see Sasuke in action. While his fate was not as bad as Naruto’s, the Uchiha has also struggled to leave his mark. There’s a good chance that Sasuke and Naruto will team up once again at some point in the future arcs, but when that will happen remains to be seen. For the time being, fans should enjoy the adventures of Boruto and Sarada.
