What is Tempering in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?
Tempering is a mechanic that lets players temporarily power up theirweapons inWuchang: Fallen Feathers.This is unlocked relatively early on in the game, right after players beat Dhutanga in Lightzen Temple.
In order to start Tempering weapons, you need to equip Needles via the Temper menu at any Shrine.Bone Needlesgrant your weapons major bonuses, such as adding elemental damage to your attacks. Meanwhile,Shadow Stone Needlesgive you smaller boosts to your stats.
You cannot equip Shadow Stone Needles without equipping a Bone Needle in your first Tempering acupoint slot.
How to Use Tempering in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
In essence, Tempering is similar to using weapon greases inotherSoulslikegames— to use it, you need toequip the Temperance item in one of your quick slots. This has one charge by default, and it will recharge every time you dream at a Shrine. Using Temperance will cause Wuchang the slick her weapon against her cursed arm, imbuing it with whatever Needles you have equipped. The effect lasts for a relatively short duration, enough for you to get a few good combos in when fighting a boss.
Not all weapons benefit from Tempering, however.Weapons that already have elemental effects by default cannot be tempered, but anything that deals purely physical damage can. Elemental imbuement effects from Discipline or weapon skills do not override Tempering effects, so feel free to use them together for big damage.

Tempering is best used when fighting tough enemies like elites and bosses. Pay attention to what elements your target might be weak against — you’ll eventually unlock Bone Needles for each elemental damage type and more, giving you a wide array of options to choose from.
