If you want to make it to greatness inCollege Football 26’sRoad to Glory mode, you’ll need to make sure your player is constantly improving. That means you’ll need to earn skill points to upgrade your player’s core stats. However, this isn’t something you’ll have immediate access to when you start your RTG journey in high school. In this guide, I’ll explain how to upgrade your player inCollege Football 26and how to get skill points so you may keep them on the road to a professional contract.

How to Upgrade Your Player’s Stats in College Football 26

You Gotta Pump Those Up

To upgrade your player, select the ‘Upgrade Player’ option from the Road to Glory menu. From here, you’ll be given the option to use any skill points you’ve earned to upgrade one of six ratings. Each of these core ratings (or attributes) will then improve specific stats for your player. The core ratings and the stats depend on the position you’ve chosen to play in. As an example, the core ratings for a QB and the stats they increase are:

Each stat or attribute will require a set amount of skill points to upgrade it, and the number of skill points depends on how leveled up the stat already is. The higher your stat and the more you’ve leveled it up, the more skill points it’ll cost to upgrade it further.

Once you’ve decided which stat you want to upgrade, press and hold A on Xbox or X on PlayStation. This will upgrade the selected stat and deduct the amount of skill points from your total.

It’s always worth considering what attributes and stats are going to impact your game the most. For example, if you like rushing as a QB, then improving the Quickness rating will help you become one of thefastest quarterbacks inCollege Football 26.

You can’t upgrade your player during the first five weeks of your Road to Glory campaign when you’re playing in your high school team. You’ll need to sign with a college before you can begin improving your player’s stats and get access to the option in the menu.

Put in the Hard Hours

To get skill points, you’ll need to spend ‘Energy’ on training sessions each week and complete objectives (or milestones) when you’re playing games.

Training can be done as many times as your current ‘Energy’ levels allow each week (indicated by the silver coin with a lightning bolt on it in the upper right corner), but keep in mind that it will also increase your risk of injury and lower your health stat. You might also want to spend ‘Energy’ on Academics and Leadership, too, as this is the best way to improve each of these stats. Completing a training session will earn you XP towards the next level, with leveling up rewarding you with a skill point.

Milestones are similar to the objectives you had for your highlight reel during the high school matches. These might be getting a first down, scoring a touchdown, or making successful throws or receptions (depending on the position you’re playing). Completing these milestones will earn you XP, which, like the training sessions, will reward you with skill points.

If youpreordered the Deluxe Edition ofCollege Football 26, you’ll automatically receive 50 Skill Points once you’ve signed with a college. Given that the first few upgrades for most stats cost less than about five skill points each, 50 can give you a significant head start.

The best way to get skill points largely depends on what journey you choose when starting your Road to Glory. Those who go for an Underdog or Contributor starting point will get fewer game time opportunities, meaning they’ll need to rely on weekly training sessions to earn them. However, it is possible to get more opportunities as an Underdog or Contributor depending on the depth of the roster in your current position.

If you’ve joined a team desperate for a QB, you might see more game time than joining the Alabama Crimson Tide, where you’ll likely be QB3 or even QB4 and will need to work your way up. Those who started as a top prospect will immediately see more game time and can earn skill points this way.
