All of the cool equipment inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachis battery-powered, soyou can only use skeletonsand other similar items for a limited-time before running out of juice. Thankfully, you can install extra battery attachments onto your backpack, but you’ll need to find upgrades to squeeze the most power out of your batteries.

Even if you don’t use powered gear inDeath Stranding 2, battery upgrades are still incredibly useful. There’s a surprising amount of space on your backpack for additional components, and having an extra battery on your back can save your life in the more dangerous parts of Australia. How to Upgrade Backpack Battery Levels in Death Stranding 2

You can increase your maximum battery level inDeath Stranding 2by attaching extra batteries to your backpack before setting out on a delivery. The Extra Battery attachment is unlocked after connectingHeartman’s Labto the Chiral Network roughly halfway through the story of the game.

Extra Batteries take up a lot of space on your backpack, however, and they don’t even provide that much of a boost to your battery levels. To get even more power, you’ll need to unlockExtra Battery level 2, 3, and 4by completing more optional orders.

The Extra Battery upgrades are allunlocked at Heartman’s Lab, so you don’t have to go very far to find them. To get them, all you need to do isincrease your connection levelwith the Hydrologist at Heartman’s Lab.

You’ll receive the Extra Battery level 2, 3, and 4 upgrades atconnection level 2, 3, and 4respectively. You don’t have to max out Heartman’s Lab, but doing so will net you some additional rewards on top of the battery blueprints.

Once you have the Extra Battery upgrades unlocked, you’re able to fabricate them at any facility and stick them onto your backpack as long as you have room. They’ll take up most of the available space, but you can squeeze in somesmaller backpack customization itemslike stickers, patches, or even mini batteries that will give you a tiny bit more juice.
