Quick Links
Throughout just about every biome inPEAK, you will come across forageable consumables like coconuts, berries, mushrooms, and other foods. Theseitems are different from consumableslike Trail Mix or Granola Bars because they are not packaged goods.
Though most forageable items inPEAKare safe to eat, some mushrooms, berries, and other items willcause you to become poisoned on consumption. This guide explains how to tell what food is safe to eat inPEAKand offers tips on what to specifically look for when determining whether a mushroom or berry is safe to eat or not.

Which Mushrooms & Berries Are Safe in PEAK?
Many Berries & Mushrooms Have A Chance To Be Poisoned
While packaged foods are always safe to eat, some berries inPEAKare poisonous, and all mushrooms have a small chance of being poisonous. You can tell the difference between poisoned and non-poisoned foraged goods by looking for consumables with slightly different details or coloration compared to the normal item model.
Not all forageables of a single type are poisoned in the same run. If one Button Shroom in a cluster is poisoned, it doesn’t necessarily mean the others are too. The chance is rolled for individual items, not groups of forageables, so one person may be poisoned while another is fine after eating mushrooms from the same bunch.

The poison effect from bad food is not immediate; it tends to take a few seconds for a foraged item to proc.
Theonly truly safe forageables in the game are non-green berries, regional berries, status effect foods (like the Remedy Shroom or Medicinal Root), and the Chubby Shroom. The Chubby Shroom is theonly mushroom that does not have a poisonous variant. If you find a Chubby Shroom, there is no risk in eating it (or better yet, cooking it to restore more Hunger).
