The faction system inDune: Awakeninglets players wage war on Arrakis under the banners of either the Atreides or the Harkonnen. This plays a big part in the PvP and PvE endgame experience, and if you think you joined the wrong faction, you’ll be glad to know that treachery is very much an option.
Betrayal carries a heavy weight, and if you want to getfaction-specific perks inDune: Awakening, you’ll want to verify you’re on the right team. Still, if you ever have a change of heart, you’re able to leave your current faction in favor of the other by doing the following steps.
How to Change Factions in Dune: Awakening
Players who want to switch their allegiance to the opposing faction will need togo to Anvil Outpostin Vermillius Gap andspeak with the faction representatives there.Harko’s rep is Maxim Kazmir, while the Atreides rep is Lt. Tolliver.
Faction Betrayal Consequences in Dune: Awakening
If you speak with either one of them after becoming an official faction member,you’ll get a dialogue option that will let you betray your current faction. Selecting that option will present you with a warning message. Betraying a faction comes with the following consequences:
If all you’re concerned about are the cosmetic items for weapons, armor, vehicles, andfaction-based building sets, you’ll be glad to know thatyou can still purchase an opposing faction’s cosmetics from traders in your current faction’s capital city. For Atreides players, speak to one of the NPCs at theScrap Trader in Arrakeen. Meanwhile, Harkonnen players should go to theWeapons Vendor in Harko Village.

If Kazmir or Tolliver aren’t offering you the option to betray your faction inDune: Awakening, try visiting either of the following NPCs:
It’s unclear why there are two different sets of NPCs needed to start betrayal quests, though the reason for this may be related to the player’s standing with their current faction. We can confirm that betrayal quests can be started at Anvil Outpost if your faction standing is at level 2. Conversely, Piter de Vries doesn’t offer any betrayal options if you speak with him as a level 2 Atreides member.
