Much likePersona 5 Royal, the end of each palace has you fight the shadow ruler of the palace inPersona5: The Phantom X. Shadow Miyazawa is the palace boss of the second palace, and much like the second palace boss inPersona 5 Royal, he comes with a few tricks to make this fight different from a traditional high HP boss.
During the first phase of the battle, you’ll have to spot the real Miyazawa, and attacking the wrong one can be fatal. Here’s how to spot the real one, along with how to beat both phases of Miyazawa.
Best Teams for Shadow Miyazawa in P5X
During the story fight against Miyazawa, you’ll have to use Soy in your party. Good options to bring with him includeAnn,Joker,Closer, and Sumi. While Sumi and Joker also use curse attacks like Miyazawa, their resistance to curse will help keep them alive during his stronger attacks. You’ll also want a good curse Persona to put on Wonder, anduse Skill Inheritanceto give that persona the skills you want. Bringing Media is a great option, as Wonder may be your best healer for the fight. Therecommended level for this fight is also at least 60.
You can also purchase healing items from Takemi.
How to Spot the Real Miyazawa in P5X
After the first turn against Phase 1 of Miyazawa, he’ll make two clones of himself, and attacking the wrong one will have them attack whoever hits them for a lot of damage. Before attacking, wait and watch all three Miyazawas, asonly the real one will move, specifically his head. The fake two will stand still, while the real one will play an idle animation every few seconds, letting you see the real one.
Do not use attack-all skills, as it will trigger the counter from the fake two Miyazawas.
The rest of Phase 1 shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The real Miyazawa can use a party-wide attack that only deals a bit of damage, and the two fake Miyazawas will use single-target physical attacks. Every turn, Miyazawa will change places with the clones, so you’ll need to identify the right one after he attacks.
How to Beat Miyazawa Phase 2 in P5X
Phase 2 Miyazawa is a good bit more difficult, and he comes with four health bars you’ll need to get through. Phase 2 Miyazawa uses apowerful party-wide curse attack just about every turn, so healing every turn will need to be a priority. You’ll need either items or a spell that canrestore status ailments, as Miyazawa’s attacks can often brainwash your party members.
Whenever he disappears through the door, ensure you guard with the whole party, as the following attack can be devastating. You also won’t be able to attack him during this time, so block unless you really need to heal, and even then, if someone is over half health, it’s better to block. The rest of the fight will be a rinse and repeat, as he doesn’t have any more tricks and will just keep using party-wide attacks.
