The Beastmaster is one of the three classes added in theOnce Human 2.0update, and as one would expect from a class like this, it’s all about animals companions. This class lets players use the majority of animals in the game as pets that can help them in combat. It works exactly how you’d think it would, but even so, getting the hang of how the mechanics work can be a little overwhelming at first.
This guide covers the basic things you need to know about the Beastmaster inOnce Human, from how to prep your pets for battle and how to make them stronger in the long run.
Once Human: Beastmaster Basics
As their name implies, Beastmasters are capable ofsummoning and commanding animal companions to help in and out of combat. Most animals in the game can be turned into a Beastmaster’s pet, and they offer incredible bonuses for a variety of situations.
How to Summon Beastmaster Pets in Once Human
To summon an animal, you must first build a baseanda place for your pets to stay. Once you meet these criteria, interact with your pet, andselect the Whistle icon to the left of the menu that appears. This will let you bind that animal to one of yourBeast Whistles.
Once you bind an animal to a whistle, put the bound whistle in one of your hotbar slots, then use it from there. You can have up to three animals active at a time. More whistles can be crafted at a Supplies Workbench.
You should already have a Beast Whistle in your inventory as well as an animal companion selection item as soon as you start the game.
Best Starting Companion for Beastmasters in Once Human
Players get to choose between three animal companions at the beginning:
Among these three, the Wolf is the most recommended thanks to the buffs it provides. It works almost like the Bear, but with less health and more damage. The Bear is also a decent starter pick since it can draw attention away from you for longer, making them great forclearing content like Securement Silossolo.
Any animal you don’t get in the beginning can be acquired later by finding and taming them.
How to Tame Animals in Once Human
You cantame animals inOnce Humanby reducing their health and hitting them with a Tranquilizer of some sort.Tranquilizer Arrows for crossbows are recommendedfor this as they are fairly cheap to build.
Keep in mind that Beastmasters can walk up to animals without spooking them away or getting attacked. you may use this to inspect an animal’s stats before deciding to capture them.
Beastmasters start the game with animal-related Memetic skills already unlocked. You can start capturing animals as soon as you craft the required equipment to capture and ranch them.
Animal Gear and Mutagens
You canmake equipment for your animal companions at a Supplies Workbench, and you can equip these items onto your pets by interacting with them. Animal gear enhances the stats of your pets, making them more effective against higher-level enemies.
Mutagens, on the other hand, give your companions special effects. One Mutagen may increase the damage a pet deals against Deviants or Rosetta, while others may give them enhanced Fire damage. These are made using Deviant Factors dropped by Deviants, and you may find different Mutagen Strains by slaughtering Mutant Animals.
How to Command Animals in Once Human
Once you have summoned a pet to fight alongside you, you can give it orders by using their Beast Whistle again. Keep in mind that animal behavior is slightly wonky at the moment — pet AI may bug out at times, and almost all animals have trouble hitting moving targets due to how their attack animations work. Animals can be ordered to attack enemies or resources like trees and ores.
