Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Skirk is a Cryo Main DPS inGenshin Impact. Since her debut in the game, Skirk has been doing amazing, setting new standards for DPS units. While she didn’t introduce a new Element, she’s a nice introduction to the Nod-Krai atmosphere and what players should expect from that region.
Although it’s difficult for Skirk to make mistakes with how simple her gameplay is, there are still some complex mechanics that could lower her DPS during combat. Players who got their hands on the new, shiny Cryo DPS don’t want to make these mistakes when using Skirk inGenshin Impact.
5Playing the Wrong Team
Stick With Cryo And Hydro
Teaming Skirk with the right characters can be tricky, as many ofher abilities rely on having Hydro and Cryo characters in her team. When it comes to building her team, a lot of players might treat Skirk as a classical Cryo DPS that needs to trigger Reverse Melt to deal DMG.
The main idea behind teaming Skirk with Hydro and Cryo units is to increase her DPS from her own passive talents. It’s hard for other characters that are not Hydro or Cryo to compensate for the DPS loss. Only acharacter like Kazuha can replacea Cryo or Hydro unit because of his amazing Cryo buff and debuff.
4Not Understanding Her Role
Main DPS Who Uses Normal Attack
It’s safe to say that Skirk is one of thebest 5-star characters inGenshin Impact. Her DPS is insane, even without having a single unit in her team. Not to mention, her best team consists of characters like Furina, Escoffier, and Shenhe. All of them are units that give Skirk a huge buff while they can handle their off-field DMG themselves.
On the other hand, when Skirk is not teaming with these top-tier characters, it’s important to understand that her main role is a driver for her team’s Elements. Characters like Xingqiu orYelan shine when paired with herbecause of her ability to drive their off-field DPS while dealing her high Cryo DMG. So, even if Skirk is doing great right now, when the next powercreep inevitably hits, players should be ready to play her role more effectively.
3Upgrading Her Normal Attack
Like Master, Like Disciple
Since Skirk heavily relies on her Normal Attack DMG for her DPS, a lot of players might think it’s a good idea to level up her Normal Attack talent. However, this is not where she gets her DMG from. Just like Tartaglia, Skirk infuses her Normal Attacks with Cryo DMG when she casts her Elemental Skill. She will also get an entirely new scaling, including Normal Attack scaling. Because of that,it’s a priority to level up her Elemental Skill.
Players should also maximize the level of Skirk’s Elemental Burst asshe deals a lot of DMG from this talent. Most importantly, it’s safe to neglect her Normal Attack talent, as it’s just Skirk’s Physical Normal Attacks when her Elemental Skill is not active.
2Not Knowing Her Two Elemental Burst Versions
She Can Be A Burst Bot
When youTapSkirk’s Elemental Skill, she entersSeven-Phase Flashmode and gains 45 Serpent’s Subtlety. Here, her Normal and Charged Attacks will be infused with Cryo, and her hits consume Serpent’s Subtlety. Her Elemental Burst turns intoHavoc: Extinctionfor the purpose of buffing her Basic hits. She exits the Seven-Phase Flash state after its duration ends or once she runs out of Serpent’s Subtlety points. Since her Burst switches to the second version when she’s in main DPS mode, she can’t use her Burst to deal damage.
Skirk’s Elemental Burst,Havoc: Ruin, is the one that can deal damage. To cast it, players musthave at least 50 Serpent’s Subtlety outside her Seven-Phase Flash mode. This can be done by:
To maximize Skirk’s Burst DMG, she needs62 points, which is easy to do as you simply need toHold Elemental Skill when there are three Void Rifts on the field. This will grant her 69 points. Void Rifts will appearwhen nearby party members trigger Frozen, Superconduct, Cryo Swirl, or Cryo Crystallize reactions.
Because Skirk needs to cast her Hold Elemental Skill to use her Havoc: Ruin Burst, she can’t enter Seven-Phase Flash mode to perform as the main DPS and must wait until her Elemental Skill cooldown ends.
1Not Taking Advantage of Her Best Artifacts
Don’t Be Afraid Of The Restrictions
It’s easy to consider building Skirk with the Finale of the Deep Galleries set, since everybody knows that this set was made for her. That’s true; Skirk does get a lot of extra Normal Attack DMG, alongside extra Elemental Burst DMG. However, she can’t get both at the same time. When using her Normal Attack DMG, Skirk loses her Elemental Burst buff for a few seconds, and vice versa.
However, this is fine asyou can’t deal Elemental Burst DMG and Normal Attack DMG at the same time anyway. (Except at the start of battle when her Ultimate is ready.)
