Although paying taxes isn’t particularly difficult once you understand the process, it isn’t always clear from the start. How to Pay Taxes in Dune: Awakening
To pay your taxes inDune: Awakening, you have totravel to one of the central hub cities: either Arrakeen or Harko Village. Each of these hubs has a particular Tax Collector NPC. You’ll need to speak with them to pay your taxes for individual Sub-Fiefs or settle your entire owed amount in one go.
You can check how much tax you owe at yourSub-Fief Console, which is typically the same station you used to establish your base. This will show you the exact Solaris cost and the due date. The more Sub-Fiefs you own, the more Solaris you will need to pay per cycle.
You can get to these hubs in one of two ways. If you own anOrnithopter, you can freely fly to either Arrakeen or Harko Village.Otherwise, you’ll need to use aTaxi Ornithopter, which is available from Tradeposts like Griffin’s Reach inHagga Basin South.
The ride willcost you 2,500 Solarisand will drop you off at either of the main cities. Thankfully, returning from the city to a Tradepost is free of charge, so you’ll never get stranded, even if you run out of funds.
Where to Pay Taxes in Arrakeen
After you arrive in Arrakeen, you need to head to thenorthwestern room on the first floorof the central complex. The Tax Collector’s location will be marked on your map as well. There, you’ll find the Imperial Tax Collector behind a desk. Simply interact with them and select the dialogue option to pay your dues.
Youcan choose between paying taxes for individual Sub-Fiefs or clearing all of your owed balance at once. If you’ve set up multiple bases, it’s often best to pay for everything in one go to avoid having to revisit the hub city multiple times.
Where to Pay Taxes in Harko Village
If you go to Harko Village instead, the process is the same there. After you arrive, go to thesoutheasternmost room on the first floor, where you will find the Tax Collector behind a desk. Speak to them and select the options to pay per Sub-Fief or settle all at once.
Like in Arrakeen, the Tax Collector’s room in Harko Village is clearly marked on your map. This makes both tax payments equally easy, depending on your current location and available options to go there.
What Happens if You Don’t Pay Taxes?
Neglecting to pay your taxes inDune: Awakeningcomes with serious consequences. Initially, you will get agrace periodafter missing a due date. During this time, your base will still remain protected, but you will receive reminders and warnings.
However, if you continue to delay payment, theSardaukar, elite enforcers of the Emperor, will eventuallydisable the shield protecting your base. If the shield is down, your structures and storage are vulnerable to Arrakis’ brutal environment and potential raids from other players.
Because of how harsh these penalties are,it’s strongly advised to stay on top of your taxes. Even if you’re low on Solaris, prioritize a quick trip to the city and handle your payments before the grace period ends.
