Rookidee was the “starter” Flying-type Pokemon you’d find at the beginning ofPokemon Sword & Shield. Although Rookidee and its evolutions have been a part ofPokemon GOsince January 2025’s “Steeled Resolve” event, Shiny Rookidee/Corvisquire/Corviknight did not debut the same day. With the “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales” event (July 2025), Shiny Rookidee has officially been released into the wild. From June 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to Jul 13, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local, there will be an increase spawn of Rookidee inPokemon GO. During this event, you should try and catch yourself a Shiny Rookidee or two.
Where to Find Shiny Rookidee
Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales, July 2025
During “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales” (July 22-27, 2025), you’ll see an increase of the following Pokemon in the wild:
*Axew and Goomy appear to be rarer encounters, but you’ll still see more of them than you would on average.
Rookidee being a Flying-type means it’s more likely to spawn during windy weather, but during “Ultra Unlock”, you should be seeing Rookidee regardless of weather conditions. Keep in mind that Rookidee is not a 1-star Raid Pokemon during the event.
If you’re trying for Shiny Rookidee,you’ll have better luck walking aroundthan staying in one spot and waiting for it to appear. To increase the chances of Rookidee spawning, you can use a Lure Module on a nearby PokeStop, or you can use Incense. Moss, Glacial, Magnet, and Rainy Lure Modules won’t attract Flying-type Rookidee, so just use the regular, purple module.
You may also want toturn on AR Modewhile Shiny Hunting. This gets rid of the load time for the “Catch/Encounter Screen,” making it quicker to see the Pokemon.
If you miss out on Shiny Rookidee during the “Ultra Unlock” event, don’t worry. Shiny Rookidee is officially inPokemon GO, so you’ll still be able to catch it. However, Rookidee’s spawn rate outside the event is determined by other factors, such as weather. Meaning it may be harder to come by a Shiny Rookidee normally than it would during “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales.”

How to Get Shiny Corvisquire and Shiny Corviknight
To evolve Shiny Rookidee into Shiny Corvisquire, you’ll need25 Rookidee Candy. To evolve yourShiny Corvisquire into Shiny Corviknight, you’ll need100 Rookidee Candy. You’ll want to catch a lot of Rookidee to farm Candy for its two evolutions. “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales” doesn’t have an increased Candy amount, but you’re able to use Pinap or Silver Pinap Berries to increase the Candy drop from Rookidee.
You can and should evolve Shiny Rookidee to register Shiny Corvisquire and Shiny Corviknight to unlock their (Shiny) Pokedex entries. However, if you plan to use Shiny Corviknight competitively, against Team GO Rocket, or to defend gyms, you may want to evolve a 3-star (or 2-star with high Defense) instead of a 0/1-star. Getting a 3-star Shiny all comes down to luck, but it is possible.
