Arrakeen is a large social and trading hub inDune: Awakeningthat players can visit via fast travel. However, employing the services of Taxi NPCs at Tradeposts costs 2,500 Solari per trip, which can get quite expensive if making multiple rounds.
Luckily, once playersobtain an Ornithopterof their own, they’ll be able to access the Overland map to fly to Arrakeen, Harko Village, and the Deep Desert for free. However, accessing and navigating the Overland map can be a bit confusing since the game doesn’t really have an in-depth tutorial to walk players through it. Here’s how it works.
How to Fly to Arrakeen in Dune: Awakening
To fly to Arrakeen using your Ornithopter, you’ll first need toenter the Overland map by flying to the edge of the Hagga Basin(starting area). It doesn’t matter which side of the Hagga Basin you exit from; all of them will take you to the Overland map.
Once here, use the pan function tolocate Arrakeen in the top right corner of the map, east of the Hagga Basin. Traversal in the Overland map is through click-to-move. Once your Ornithopter reaches Arrakeen on the map, a confirmation text box will appear. Hit “Confirm” and you’ll enter Arrakeen.
To exit, simply walk out the front door. Another confirmation text box will appear, and you’ll be taken back out to the Overland map as soon as you hit “Confirm.”
Do not leave Arrakeen (or Harko Village)via the Fast Travel Taxi NPCstanding next to the exit if you arrived using your Ornithopter. There is a chance the game will bug out, and you’ll lose your Ornithopter forever.
When you return to the Hagga Basin, pay attention to the bars circling the area. Which direction you enter from will dictate which part of the map you’ll end up on. If you enter from the top (north), for example, you’ll find yourself in the Eastern Shield Wall region, but if you enter from the right (east), you’ll be in the Hagga Rift. Choosing the right area can save a ton of travel time, depending onyour base’s location.
If you accidentally enter from the wrong direction, you can easily fly back out, change the angle, and fly back in to cross the map instantly.
How to Move Through the Overland Map
Movement costs Fuelandtime costs Waterin this area. If you’re running low on either, move to any of the Fuel or Water Deposits scattered across the map and hover over them. There will be a minor animation showing the Ornithopter landing on the deposits, and the relevant gauge will start filling up (The fuel gauge is yellow, the water gauge is blue). Simply flying over a Fuel or Water deposit will not do anything; you actually have to stop and let the Ornithopter land on it to start refilling.
Fuel refills in the Overland map have no effect on the actual fuel in your Ornithopter.
Where to Find Harko Village and Deep Desert on Overland Map in Dune: Awakening
Harko Villageis located directly south of the Hagga Basin, in the bottommost part of the map, whereas theDeep Desertis northwest of the Hagga Basin. While Harko Village works exactly like Arrakeen, the Deep Desertis a bit different.
As you approach the Deep Desert, you’ll see purple rectangular bars at the entrance, just like the ones circling the Hagga Basin in the Overland map. These bars serve as indicators to show players the different sectors of the Deep Desert. If you enter via the left-most section, you’ll end up somewhere in sectors A1-A3, but if you choose the right-most entrance, it’ll take you to A7-A9. This is useful for linking up with friends in the Deep Desert.
