It is a hot, sweltering summer for manyPokemon GOplayers right now, and to celebrate the sweaty times, Niantic is hosting the 2025 Water Festival, which features the inclusion of the mimicry Pokemon, Tatsugiri, for the first time. You can read more about the water event here, but there are, of course, increased spawns for plenty of water-type pocket monsters, including the Hoenn bivalve Pokemon,Clamperl.
Now, Clamperl and its two evolutions,GorebyssandHuntail, aren’t new toPokemon GOat all –they’ve been available for years now. Even still, a lot of trainers are going to be catching a lot of Clamperl during the event (which ends on July 20, 8 PM local time). By using this guide, you can learnhow to evolve Clamperl into Gorebyss and Huntail inPokemon GO.
If you’re reading this guideafterthe 2025 Water Festival, you can still catch a Clamperl and evolve it, but you might have a harder time encountering them. You can always set aClamperl as your walking Buddy to get extra Candytowards its evolutions. More on that below!
What Does Clamperl Evolve into in Pokemon GO?
It’s random!
So, once you get your hands on a Clamperl, you can evolve it into one of two Pokemon,GorebyssorHuntail, by feeding it 50 Candy. Both Pokemon are Water-types like Clamperl, butyou actually cannot choose the Pokemon that you’re going to get from the evolution. It’s a 50/50 chance. In the images above, Gorebyss is the pink Pokemon on the left, and Huntail is the blue/orange Pokemon on the right.
In the mainPokemongames,Huntail and Gorebyssaren’t that different when it comes to stats. The base stats are the same, butHuntail has higher Attack and Gorebyss has higher Special Attack.
Clamperl and Shiny Clamperl
Gorebyss and Shiny Gorebyss
Huntail and Shiny Huntail
You can indeed find a shiny Clamperl in the wild and then evolve it into Huntail and Gorebyss. If you want to see how the shiny variants for all three Pokemon look, you can check out the table above.
