In the second region ofDeath Stranding 2, players will come across various types of BTs and Chiral creatures scattered across Australia. Some of these Chiral creatures are non-hostile, while others will try to attack you whenever you get too close. One of these is the Bats, usually found flying in large groups near the shores.
These Bats deal damage to both Sam and anyvehicle he might be riding. Dealing with them can be extremely frustrating, as using ranged weapons like an Assault Rifle isn’t particularly effective. Here is what players can do against the Bats inDeath Stranding 2.
How To Deal With Chiral Bats in Death Stranding 2
As you cannot rely on using ranged or melee weapons against the Bats, you will need to use grenades. The first ones you come across are theBlood Grenades, which unlock aftercompleting Order 4and connectingC1 South Distribution Centerto the Chiral Network. The next useful grenades for the Bats are theMP Grenades, which unlock after completing Order 10.
You alsounlock the Battle Skeletonwith this mission, which increases your combat effectiveness and allows you to carry more cargo.
Once these grenades have been unlocked, you may place them in your grenade pouchand prepare for your encounter with the Bats. Upon coming across a group of Bats, before they get too close, equip the MP Grenades from the Weapons/Tool wheel. Aim and throw a grenade on the groundnear you as the Bats approach—this should kill them all in a single explosion. If there are a few stragglers left, you can ignore them and proceed with your delivery. A Blood Grenade works similarly, butyou can throw it directly underneath you and stand inside the mist for a few secondswhile the Bats start to dwindle in number.
