In the first layer of Lagoon Layer (SL100), players will come across a cave entrance that rssembles a monkey’s head. If they go inside, they will discover the first challenge course of thisDonkey Kong Bananzamap, Hangin' on Roof Road. There are three bananas in this area (Lagoon Layer SL100 Banandium Gems #12, #13, and #14), and this guide will show players how to reach all of them.
Roof Road is an area inDonkey Kong Bananzawhere players are challenged with reaching the end of the course by avoiding or destroying obstacles and enemies. Throughout this course, they can collect three bananas. While two of them are hard to miss, one of them requires some sidetracking.
Additionally, the course can be tricky to complete, so this guide’s objective is to provide players with helpful tips to make sure that they are able to get through it and get all collectibles hidden here. Below, players can learn how to fully complete this first challenge course in Lagoon Layer:
Lagoon Layer SL100 Banandium Gem #12 - Rest Stop on Roof Road
In the first section of Roof Road, players will notice two slabs moving back and forth. The best way to safely go past them is to move when each one is about to reach the border of the roof road, but either way, they move quite slowly and are relatively easy to avoid. At the end of the road, players will notice an enemy; they must punch it to get rid of it.
In the next section, players will come across a larger slab with a hole in the middle. Players will be able to reach the other side in one go if they move on the opposite side that it is going. However, if they think they don’t have time to reach safety, they can stop near the hole in the slab to avoid falling off.
Next, players will come to a circular area with stone slabs. Players can go left if they want to collect the chips on the other side of the roundabout or they can go right and move onto the following zone. There is an enemy waiting for them at the end of the roundabout so they must be careful when changing directions.
This will get players to the end of the road where they can step down onto a platform where they will be able tocollect the Rest Stop on Roof Road Banandium Gem.
There are two boxes beside the banana. Players can destroy them to receive a Red Balloon, which will save them should they fall off a platform or the roof road.
Lagoon Layer SL100 Banandium Gem #14 - At the End of Roof Road
Players should go get the 14th Lagoon Layer banana next, as it is on a platform that is easier to reach. This way, if players fall off before finishing the level, the Red Balloon will move them much closer to the finish line and the remaining gem.
After getting Gem #12, players must keep moving forward and jump onto the next section of roof road. Here, they will find long stone slabs with holes in the middle where they can place themselves before continuing until they reach the platform up ahead. However, they must be careful the location of the hole is different on each slab, so gamers might have to run back to ensure that they make it across safely - this is why collecting the Red Balloon before is so important.
Once fans have reached the platform, they mustgo up to the At the End of Roof Road Banandium Gemand punch it to add it to their collection.
Lagoon Layer SL100 Banandium Gem #13 - Hidden on Roof Road
Lagoon Layer Gem #13 is the hardest one to find in this challenge course, and it puts players' abilities to quickly break through stone. The 13th banana is located on the left side of the last section of the Hangin' on Roof Road course. This means that players must go walk into the oncoming stone slabs to reach the platform where the gem is hidden.
The stone slabs are moving from left to right (or right to left if players have already reached the final platform). Gamers must walk onto the oncoming traffic of slabs to reach the hidden roof road section at the end of it. It is quite hard to reach this section, as the holes in the slabs are not located close enough to it. Thankfully, the slabs are made of stone, andDonkey Kong can easily break through them.
If a stone slab collides with the player, it may just knock them off the roof road. There is no ground beneath them and players will have to deal with a Game Over screen. Gamers who have spare Red Balloons will simply be taken to the last platform they were on, but if that is not the case, it is best to pause and select the Start Over option, as this will allow them to redo the level without paying the price for it. Alternatively, they can alsosave the gamebefore attempting the course and return to their save file if they fall to their deaths too often.
Once players are on the far left of the roof road, they must quickly press the Punch button on a stone slab and break through it. They must do this until they’ve successfully reached the hidden platform. Gamers can safely drop down once they have grounded underneath their feet.
The safety area has a stone wall that players can easily destroy with Donkey Kong’s mighty punches. Inside, they cancollect the Hidden on Roof Road Banandium Gem.
After collecting the three bananas, players can return to the platform where they got the At the End of Roof Road gem and take the barrel back up to SL100. There is a hidden platform on the opposite side of the one where the Hidden on Roof Road gem was located, and it has a fewbanana chips, which players might find worth collecting. Additionally, there is also a barrel in this area, so they won’t have to return to the dangerous slab highway.
