There are three main quest branches inDune: Awakening: the main story, the contracts found in trade posts, and the faction questline. For those who have joined forces with the confident and calculating Harkonnens, their tasks include themes of treachery, theft, forgery, and assassination. Once a player has completed the “Fresh Recruit” quest and has chosen a house to join, they can speak to the Harkonnen representative, Maxim Kazmir, to be granted further missions. He’s in The Anvil tradepost, only a few meters fromhis competitor, Anton Tolliver.
These quests are available from the Contract Board, but players can still interact with the House Recruiters before they agree to any contracts. It’s also possible to betray their faction eventually for those who want to switch sides.
After completing two quests for Maxim, both of which involve a few forged documents and several bulging bloodbags, he’ll offer the player “Test of Treachery.” Up until now, the character has been doing some minor tasks to score points with Maxim, so he’ll invite them to join the Harkonnen faction.
How To Complete Test Of Treachery In Dune: Awakening
Stealing From Thieves
This quest continues the plot of the last two in the chain, which include the falsified logs and interrogation. Maxim trusted a group of Kirab Bandits to deliver the forged goods but then they decided to ask for more money. This proved to bea deadly mistake to makewith this vindictive House.
The final step includes blackmail, specifically that of Atreides’s representative, Anton, an action which defines the player as a Harkonnen operative.
Find The Kirab Hideout In The Testing Station
Imperial Testing Station #13is northwest of the Wreck of the Pallas, on the eastern side of Hagga Basin in the far corner of the Western Vermilius Gap. The entrance is on the southern side of the large, rocky outcropping.
This is also a great place to go for materials like Advanced Servoks and flour sand, and the exhibits and experiments within also have plenty of water. It’s also an ideal place to visit for useful building materials.
Find The Forged Documents
After reaching the bottom of the stairs and passing through a round room, the player will enter a large area with a lot of salvaged metal. Stay to the right and pick up the Green ID band, which grants access to the passage on the left. Straight ahead, there’s a circular table with a briefcase containing some Solaris and the Forged Documents.
If players have trouble finding the briefcase, they can use the tracking option in the quests to uncover its exact location. There’s also a Purple ID band here, but it’s only required to reach the inner parts of the station and is not needed for this quest. It’s just handy for looting and pillaging if the player is here for it.
Deliver The Counterfeit Documents To Maxim
The character’s Harkonnen connection is practically drooling at the prospect of the next step in this quest, which also includes humiliating a member of House Atreides. Once he’s confirmed that the documents are in order, he sends the player to talk to Anton about the “evidence” that indicates he’s a wretched coward with no honor.
Blackmail Tolliver
Make the ruthless Harkonnens proud by presenting the evidence to Tolliver and, like the Baron would say, squeeze and show him who you are. Offer to keep everything quiet as long as he backs off the Skorda case, and he’ll reluctantly agree, but not before warning the player about Harkonnen treachery.
Report Back To Maxim
Once Anton’s spirit has been sufficiently broken, Maxim will be pleased with the player’s work and finally offer them an official place as a member of House Harkonnen andthe Landsraad. This is subject to the successful completion of further missions, of course, which become available as the character progresses.
Maxim also gives players dire warning regarding the swift and brutal vengeance that will follow should the character betray their chosen house, but this kind of ruthless efficiency is likely why players choose the Harkonnens in the first place.
