Solar subclasses inDestiny 2are all about buffing allies and burning enemies, and if you want to lean heavily into the latter, there are quite a few ways for you to do so. The Burning Ambition weapon perk is one of them, and it’s great if you just want to sit back, relax, and watch the world burn.
Burning Ambition was introduced alongside the release ofThe Edge of Fate, and it’s already proving to be quite the useful tool forSolar builds inDestiny 2. In this guide, we’ll be going over how this perk works and how you’re able to best take advantage of it.
Destiny 2: Burning Ambition Perk Effect
Burning Ambition is a weapon perk that lets players inflict Scorch on their targets after dealing enough sustained damage to them. If the target is already Scorched, the perk will continue to add Scorch stacks to them, further increasing the damage they take over time to the flames.
This perk can be found on a handful of Solar weapons as of the launch ofEdge of Fate, and one of the weapons that’s the most accessible to players isthe Ahab Char Auto Rifle. This weapon can drop from Portal activities, which means even players who don’t own any of the game’s expansions can get it. Other options include:
Trigger Condition
The number of hits it takes before Burning Ambition triggersdepends on your weapon and its magazine size. So far, we’ve tested this with an Agape Hand Cannon on CARL at the Tower’s Shooting Range. The results are as following:
Recommendation
We recommend using Burning Ambition as a means of triggering Ignition. Apply Scorch on a target using your abilities or other weapons, then blow them up with Burning Ambition. Not only would this do good damage against Majors or Bosses, but it will clear any adds that might be near them. Additionally, if you have Ember of Char, you can potentially start a chain reaction of Ignitions of there are enough enemies.
When playing in a team, weapons likeTommy’s Matchbook with its catalystcan serve as an excellent primer for weapons with Burning Ambition. The team’s weapons will feed off the Scorch they inflict, causing back-to-back Ignitions on tanky targets.
