Helldivers 2’s newest story beats are only as thrilling as the objectives players are tasked with. That’s why, even if the premise behind an event is exciting, the Major Order upholding it will only be as fun as it is retentive. SomeHelldivers 2Major Ordersfail regardless of how simple or engaging they are, but MOs that task players with more to do over a lengthy period are arguably fantastic due to how much players can feel as though they’re contributing to.

Helldivers 2doesn’t always have elaborate MOs, which are typically reserved for wide-scale events. Interestingly, though, the game currently features one such elaborate MO, and there’s an argument to be made for a laundry list of objectives to be the status quo, rather than an every-now-and-then occurrence.

Helldivers 2’s Major Orders are the Galactic War’s Lifeblood

Players can indulge inHelldivers 2’s narrative as little or as much as they wish. Essentially, all Helldivers truly need to know is which planets and enemy factions their services are needed for. For anyone aspiring to know what their efforts are going toward and how they might influencefuture events or updates inHelldivers 2, though, there are always mission briefings and descriptions for players to peruse.

Helldivers 2’s new Major Order briefing reads:

“Remembrance—destroyed during the completely failed Illuminate invasion of Super Earth—will be the first of our fallen Mega Cities to be rebuilt, as selected by the Ministry of Prosperity.

To reclaim worlds threatened by hostile forces, and seize necessary rebuilding assets, the Helldivers must hold all designated planets, and complete the number of required operations.”

As such, it seems clear that MO progression for the next while will revolve around the continued restoration of Super Earth. There are many planets and operations for players to select from, with all of them ideally held when the MO expires, and it’s this kind of gameplay diversity that could allowHelldivers 2’s gameplayto thrive further.

Future Major Orders Can’t Be Afraid to Put Helldivers to Task

Helldivers 2’s previous Major Order tasked players with liberatingGar Haren and Gatria, as well as successfully extracting with 50,000,000 common samples. This was also an example of a phenomenal MO because of the variety it offered, allowing players a newfound reason as to why they may want to go out of their way to loot samples.

Samples are quite superfluous for many veteranHelldivers 2players now if they’ve already unlocked all ship modules, for instance, and an MO such as this one makes securing them meaningful again.

Plus, MOs are a communal effort and can thus afford to be daunting and seemingly insurmountable in what they ask of players to achieve.Failure is natural and not everyHelldivers 2MO is won, anyway, lending credence to the idea that all MOs should be proportionately sized in order for them to always feel like an endeavor that couldn’t possibly be completed on one’s own, let alone with a whole bastion of stalwart players. If nothing else, an increased number of medals or rewards could incentivize such tasks being herculean, much less a greater period for players to enjoy MOs and not feel crushed by the weight of their overwhelming urgency otherwise.
