Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani recently confirmed that the studio “won’t rest” until the previously leaked chainsword is added toHelldivers 2. This is certainly exciting news for players who’ve been asking for a chainsword for a long time—especially since rumors about a potential collaboration betweenHelldivers 2andWarhammer 40Kstarted earlier in 2025.
Despite anycontroversyHelldivers 2may have faced in the past, it’s undeniable how committed Arrowhead is when it comes to giving players what they ask for. Over its year and a half on the gaming scene,Helldivers 2has undergone major changes across many areas, with the developer delivering everything from new content to essential fixes. But the game’s evolution is far from over, as Arrowhead has several plans for future additions, crossovers, weapons, and more. Unfortunately for the studio (but not for players), a wealth of features has leaked over the past few months, revealing plenty of content still in development and expected to join the game at some point. Now, Arrowhead has addressed the addition of one particularly anticipated weapon.
On the officialHelldiversDiscord channel, one player asked Arrowhead ifHelldivers 2’s primary melee weaponswere in the works, as they wanted to see a “very large sword.” Luckily for them, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani responded, saying the studio is hard at work on introducing “some kind of chainsword” toHelldivers 2. “We won’t rest,” wrote Jorjani, emphasizing the studio’s own excitement about bringing the melee weapon to the game.
The idea of a chainsword has long been on players’ minds, especially since Jorjani himself teasedaHelldivers 2andWarhammer 40Kcollaboration. This idea gained even more traction back in February, when popular leaker IronS1ghts shared an image showing the silhouette of a chainsword. Players were totally excited about both the potential crossover between the two franchises and the melee weapon’s possible addition—though nothing has been officially confirmed by either developer.
Although Jorjani didn’t provide details about when players can expect to see the chainsword in the popular third-person shooter, Arrowhead has recently teased moreIlluminate content coming toHelldivers 2in the future. On top of that, a significant number of leaks have revealed what may be the studio’s upcoming plans, including a new Automaton homeworld called New Cyberstan, a new enemy called the Observer (similar to the Watcher but with a twist), and more.
