Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani said thatHelldivers 2receiving support for upscaling technologies, like Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR, is “on the wishlist” of things to include in future updates. However, Jorjani added that other problems that impact the performance ofHelldivers 2need to be fixed before any upscaling technologies are considered.
In short, Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR are upscaling technologies that allow a game to be rendered at a lower resolution, like 720p or 1080p, before being upscaled to a user’s chosen resolution, such as 4K. This would allow users to have higher-resolution graphics and textures without sacrificing performance in supported games. While AMD’s FSR upscaling is done at a software level and is more widely available on PCs and consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Nvidia’s DLSS uses the Tensor Cores of supported Nvidia hardware. TheGeForce RTX 50 graphics cards can utilize DLSS 4, along with previous iterations of Nvidia’s upscalers.
AlthoughHelldivers 2currently does not support DLSS or FSR upscaling, Arrowhead’s leadership is not averse to the idea. In response to aquestion on the officialHelldivers 2Discord server, Jorjani said that DLSS and FSR are “on the wishlist” of things that could be added to the game in a future content update. However, Jorjani added, “There are other more fundamental problems that impact performance that we will focus on before DLSS/FSR but it’s being discussed.” WhileHelldivers 2has issued content updatesthat introduce new content and address any issues that crop up, frame rate drops have been a point of contention since a March 2025 update increased how many AI calculations the game runs simultaneously, which can tax a user’s CPU.
Helldivers 2 Is Not Prioritizing Support for DLSS or FSR
Though DLSS and FSR both rely on the user’s graphics card more than the CPU, their implementation could smooth out any rough FPS patches. Along with ironing out some lingering technical issues, theHelldivers 2development team stated it is looking to bring more challenging contentto the game as a response to player feedback. While Arrowhead could not provide further details about some of the content planned forHelldivers 2, it remains to be seen what challenging enemies await players in future updates.
Despite its tumultuous development,Helldivers 2shows no signs of slowing down. Between the continued changes andthe August 26 launch ofHelldivers 2on Xbox consoles, only time will tell what tricks Arrowhead has up its sleeve.
