So far, marketing forGrand Theft Auto 6has been practically nonexistent. The first trailer was released all the way back in 2023, followed by a second trailer just a couple of months ago. While Rockstar has since gone silent on the highly anticipated title, it did release over 70 new screenshots and an updated website forGrand Theft Auto 6alongside its latest trailer. Fans have spent weeks picking apart every single detail of the trailer, but many are now eager to know when new footage and screenshots will be released. Although it could still be quite some time, a new development is great news for fans patiently waiting to see more.
Earlier this month, fans discovered that Rockstar was likelyhiring new staff for the marketing ofGrand Theft Auto 6. Although the game itself was not specifically mentioned in the job listings, Rockstar said it was searching for ‘Marketing Localization QA Testers’ for various languages. These positions were also only for a 12-month period, taking the staff through until shortly afterGrand Theft Auto 6’s release. Now, just a couple of weeks later, Twitter userTrevorTrailer(viaVideoGamer) noticed that these roles are no longer being advertised by Rockstar, meaning the positions have been filled. Although it could still be some ways away, it shows that Rockstar is gearing up to marketGrand Theft Auto 6in a big way.
Third GTA 6 Trailer Likely Still Months Away
While this is a great update for fans waiting to see more ofGrand Theft Auto 6, expectations still need to be managed. When it comes to marketing one of the biggest video game releases of all time, there’s going to be a ton of work involved. The aforementioned roles may now be filled, but there is likely still a lot of work that needs to be done behind the scenes before Rockstar begins marketingGrand Theft Auto 6.
If past Rockstar Games are anything to go by, the nexttrailer forGrand Theft Auto 6likely won’t arrive until early next year. Rockstar Games didn’t releaseGrand Theft Auto 5’s third trailer until April 2013, which was just five months before the game’s release. The exact same timeline occurred forRed Dead Redemption 2,with its third trailer releasing in May 2018, exactly five months before its launch in October 2018. If Rockstar maintains the same marketing cycle, it meansGrand Theft Auto 6’s third trailer may be released in January 2026.
Although Rockstar could quite easily throw a spanner into the mix and take a whole new approach to itsmarketing forGrand Theft Auto 6, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously admitted that “the better thing to do” is to provide marketing materials for its games relatively close to the release date.
